THE NEWSLETTER

Dear fellow baptized members of the Christian faith,

Sunday, June 5th, we celebrate the 7th Sunday of Easter. This is the final Sunday of the Easter season.

“Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!”

At the end of this June we enter into the ―long green season‖ of the Church year, the non-festival portion. In keeping with the tradition of the Church, however, we have two important festival Sundays yet to celebrate.

The first is the Day of Pentecost, June 12th this year; the second, The Feast of the Holy Trinity on June 19th.

Easter and Pentecost cannot be separated. These two great Feast Days of the

Church answer the question that was posed to Moses as he led the children of Israel: ―Is the Lord among us or not?‖

Easter announces that Christ is risen from the dead; therefore, He is alive and able to be pre-sent among us.

Pentecost announces how he is among us.

As Christ promised – and on the day of Pentecost, the promise was delivered— the Holy Spirit came to the disciples to guide them ―into all truth.‖ With that gift, the disciples were able to preach the Gospel and administer the Sacraments to God’s people.

As your pastor proclaims to you the word of God, the Spirit is at work to bring Christ to you.

As you receive His Body and Blood in, with, and under the bread and wine of the Lord’s Sup-per, our gracious Father grants forgiveness and nur-tures faith. The Spirit strengthens and preserves

you ―in the one true faith‖ unto life everlasting.

Because God sent His Holy Spirit at Pentecost, He is among you by His means of grace.

On Holy Trinity Sunday we celebrate the Triune God whose name we bear through the waters of Holy

Baptism.

May God continue to strengthen you through His gifts to enable you to share the Good News of Jesus and to show His love in service to others.

In His service,

Pastor von Hindenburg

Catechesis/Bible Class News

It is our intent that all classes and meetings will now be held in the

newly-remodeled former Braille Room. Just come through the east

aisle of the church, then through the first set of doors on the left.

If you have not yet checked out the room, please join us on Sunday

mornings at 8:30, Tuesday mornings at 10 or Wednesday evenings

beginning at 6:30.

Midweek schedule resumes on Wednesday, June 1, at 6:30 with

Hymn Sing, where we learn history and theology of the hymns we

will be singing the coming Sunday. This is followed each week by

Pastor’s 7:00 topical catechesis. In June and July Pastor will be

teaching us about Lutheran Spirituality.

The Tuesday morning class will pick up on June 7.

If you have any questions about the schedule, please see the cal-

endar on page 5.

For more than three decades, our new meeting room was used for a multitude of purposes,

primarily that of preparing Braille books that were shipped throughout the United

States and into the world. It also served as the counting room and the Quilting

Room, housed choir robes, elder robes, acolyte robes and most recently, was a

general storage area.

With many thanks to the Voters Assembly, this room has been transformed into

our Meeting Room/Classroom. Special thanks for the labor provided by Jim

Weishaar, Leon Tarr, Norm Morton, Franklin Tilley, Bill Navarro, Pastor von Hin-

denburg and any others that may have assisted.

On Sunday, May 29, this room will be dedicated for its new purpose in a special

rite.

A birthday prayer when

you remember your fel-

low congregants: Watch

over your child, ___, O

Lord, as his/her days in-

crease; bless and guide

him/her, wherevers/he

may be. Strengthen

him/her when s/he
