THE NEWSLETTER GUJARAT TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY July 2015

As we work towards making Gujarat Technological University a great institution, we may

learn from other good universities of the world.

Let us see the vision of a small non-Ivy-league US University, as available on its web-site1:

The university states that its (recent) ‘plan will provide uniquely global experiences,

which prepare students to lead in their local communities and around the world’:

The plan calls for the University to achieve global impact through four globally-

focused themes that will become the University’s balanced scorecard:

Global innovation through inclusive leadership A global student-centered experience A network of academic and operational excellence Strategic and sustainable development

The Vice Provost2 of the University said “We are looking to

the future in an action-oriented way. Now that the plan has

been endorsed by the Board of Trustees3, we are moving full-

speed ahead.”

GTU has prepared a vision for itself. It has developed policies,

which can help implement the vision. GTU has been working

to implement these policies. The University can become a

great university if progressively larger number of the officers

at the University and its Colleges, the Faculty Members and

the students work for it in collaboration with one another.

At the GTU offices and at each of its academic and administrative units all across the State, every member of GTU

family should ask herself/ himself whether she/ he is contributing to achieving excellence in her/ his field. The field

of working may be a workshop or a laboratory or a class-room or a college or a Sankul4 or the University itself. It is

only when all of the GTU’s components are working well that we shall be able to create a highly reputed university

in which we can all take pride and the graduates of which will be able to get excellent jobs.

youth. Such shortcoming is due to casualness in our sys-

tem. We could not live only with the help of our past

glory. This is not an age of superficial world, it is an age

of excel. You have to become specialist in your field i.e.

one-upmanship. Casual approach will not work. He ex-

horted the students for work hard.

Mr. Jagat Shah, Foreign representative of Government of

Manitoba said that generally our academia and industry

linkage is very poor, but at GTU the linkage is strong. He

How to make females fit and healthy?

Ahmedabad: Women Health Development program has

organized at GTU Campus.

Main objective of Women Development Cell of Gujarat

Technological University is creating congenial and safe

working environment for all the female student, women

faculty and staff of the university and all affiliated colleg-

issues that they face in their day-to day lives.

In our country women have low levels of both education and formal labor force participation. They typically have little autonomy, living under the control of first their fa-thers, then their husbands, and finally their children. All of these factors exert a negative impact on the health status of Indian women. Looking towards this problem, women development cell of GTU has decided to organize this program on women health awareness and invited experts from various fields who can guide us participants on how to face major problems regarding health in their daily schedule. This program is chaired by Mrs.Aggrawal, Dr.Rajul Gajjar,
