Nutrition Classes Scheduled for July
On Saturday, July 16th, beginning at 9 am, Mandy Sharp will be in the Village Activity Room to do makeovers for the ladies of The Village and St. Elizabeth Center. Mandy is the Community Liaison for Providence and is a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant as well. There is a sign up sheet at the Village Activity table for anyone who is interested in taking part in the free event. There will be no pressure to buy product, so come down and take advantage of some good skin care instruction and leave looking and feeling beautiful!
Mary Kay Makeovers Come to Providence Park!
These meetings should be very informative and fun! Megan is going to school to become a clinical dietician and working on her community service hours with us. So come on down and listen to what she has to say. You might learn something new about what’s good for you or what is not....
On July 5th and July 19th, computer technicians from Goodwill Industries will be here to help residents with any questions they may have about their computers, cell phones, IPods, etc. They will be in the game room on the second floor of the Village from 1 pm to 3 pm. We will have sign up sheets on the activity table for residents to sign up on for these classes. They wil also be able to help you learn how to operate a computer if you haven’t done so and send and receive emails. So come on down and sign up!
Computer Technology Classes to Begin
BBQ Round up!With this being the 4th of July month, it’s quite fitting that we take a trip to get some good Bar-B-Que to eat. So, we will be going to the Rusty Star on July 8th. The Rusty Star was given a 5 star review and featured on the Travel Channel on the Anthony Bourdain Show! He said it was amazing, especially the ribs! On the 22nd of July, we will be taking a return trip to Marlin, TX to Sisters’ restaurant. They serve good ole’ down home cookin’ with pork chops, meat loaf and chicken fried steaks as their specialties. You’d better bring a big appetite with you if you go, because their portions are huge. They do have doggie boxes though, so hop on the bus and join us for some good food, fellowship, fun and sight seeing along the way.
The Providence Park Choir will be performing twice this month.
One performance will be at the Quarterly Memorial Service at 2:30 pm in the Christus Chapel on Thursday, July 28. They will be singing “Cornerstone,” a very beautiful piece written by Lari Goss. They have been working very hard to make this song very special for you! The memorial service is in honor of those who passed away during the months of April, May and June this year at Providence Park.
The choir has also been asked to re-perform their “Sister Act” for the 4th floor residents on July 19th at 3:30 pm If you did not catch this performance the first time or would like to see it again, please feel free to travel to St. Catherine Cen-ter on the 19th to catch this comical performance by our very own choir. You’ll love it!

Photography Club in the Works! If you have a digital camera, a disposable camera, an old or new camera, let’s pull them out and start using them! We will be getting a new van to travel in hopefully sometime in July for the Village and St. Elizabeth Place. This would be a great opportunity for our residents to get
out and take excursions to photograph different things and happenings around town or out of town. We could have showings of a particular kind of photography each month. We might even end up with one that makes us famous, who knows.... dream big!
WII Game Catching on BigIf you pass by the Village Fitness center on any given Thursday around 1 pm, you might want to be prepared to hear some loud noises coming from the residents playing the Wii game. We have some very competitive players here at Providence
Park, some of which can bowl in the high 200 range! If you haven’t taken ad-vantage of playing this fun game, come on down and try it -- there’s always room for more and the players will be glad to help you learn how to play.
