Preparing for Prayer
5:6 O you who believe! when you prepare for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands (and arms) to the elbows; Wipe your heads (with water); and (wash) your feet to the ankles. If ye are in a state of ceremonial impurity, bathe your whole body… … Allah does not wish to place you in difficulty, but He only wishes to make you clean, and to complete his favor upon you, that you may be grateful.
Purification
Some of the etiquettes may coincide with the usual etiquettes observed by everybody. However, the Muslim observes these etiquettes with the right intentions, which qualifies them as acts of worship
Some Bathroom Etiquettes
• On entering, say In the name of Allah. O Allah I seek refuge in you from male and female noxious beings (devils)
• Enter with the left foot first • Wipe and clean using the left hand • Wash hands thoroughly • Step out with the right foot first and say
O Allah, I seek your forgiveness • While using the bathroom, cautiously guard against having any impurities on your body or clothes • Guard your privacy and maintain silence while in the bathroom
Some Bathroom Etiquettes
• Intention • Bismillah (In the Name of God) • Wash hands up to wrist thrice • Rinse mouth thrice • Clean nostrils thrice – sniff up water and blow out
• Wash face thrice • Wash arms up to elbows • Wipe head – from hairline on forehead to hairline on neck
and back to hairline on forehead
• Wipe ears • Wash feet up to ankles
Steps in Making Wudu (Ablution)
All washed parts must be touched by water
Do not waste water
Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah
Wah-dahu la sharika lah Him alone with no associates
Wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasooluh And I testify that Muhammad is his slave and messenger
Supplication after Ablution
If we put on our socks while in the state of purity, then we do not need to take them off the next time we make ablution to wash our feet. It suffices to only wipe over the top part of the socks and our ablution is complete. For how long can this go on? Three days for the traveler One day for the resident
