drug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is defined as tuberculosis
that is resistant to at least isoniazid (INH) and rifampicin (RMP)
the two most powerful first-line treatment anti-TB drugs.
Our social workers are been explained that how MDR-TB develops
in otherwise treatable TB when the course of antibiotics is
interrupted and the levels of drug in the body are insufficient to
kill 100% of bacteria. This can happen for a number of reasons like
we have among the in Perungudi families where Patients may feel
better and halt their antibiotic course, drug supplies may run out
or become scarce, patients may forget to take their medication from
time to time or patients do not receive effective therapy LEED
social workers regularly visit the families to do health
counselling which would motivate them to recover, our social
workers are now the DOT providers who are trained in providing
medicines and to do injection. But the main problem we face is that
staffs often do not have food and this is very harmful for the drug
giver as wells as social worker who interacts with the
patients.
f. Vitamin Angles
