Centrix 2.0 thinks ahead
The system permanently determines the optimal measurement parameters for the correspondi-ng operating mode. The next, logical operating step is automatically preselected by the system and the user only needs to confi rm it, simply and directly! If necessary, fi ne adjustments can be made manually at any time.
Reduction of the operating elements to a mini-mum provides optimum operating comfort for specialists. In addition, inexperienced users can also quickly locate cable faults with a high de-gree of accuracy.
Automatic data recording
All measurements are automatically saved as a database entry. This ensures that no measure-ment results are lost. Comments can be added to the measurements using an on-screen key-board.
A freely defi nable input mask makes it possible to adapt to the internal documentation system of each cable operator. Results can be printed immediately or saved as a PDF fi le to a memo-ry stick using the USB port. Printers can also be connected using the USB port.

IFLIFL mode is used for intermittent faults. Using an envelope, even small changes in the impedance curve can be clearly shown.
ICE / decayWith the proven current pulse method (ICE) and for the decay travelling vibration method, the measurement of the fault location is also perfor-med automatically.
ProRangeFor ProRange, the gain is adapted based on the distance. Distant joints, fault locations and cable ends are thus better detected. For cables with high attenuation (long cables, moist mass-imp-regnated cable, crossbonding), this new feature is especially advantageous.

ARM® -Plus / Decay-PlusDoppelstoßverfahrenDouble impulse procedureThe patented double impulse procedure was specially developed for high voltage levels and long cables.
First, ignition of an arc is performed at the fault location with high voltage. The duration of the resulting arc is extended by a second discharge from a 4 kV pulse module. The arc is thus optimally stabilised and pre-loca-tion can thus be performed successfully even in diffi cult conditions (oil-fi lled sleeves, humidity in sleeves, long cables) at any time.
For ARM® -Plus:Functional image pulse with 350 V or 1.5 kVFault pattern pulse with up to 32 kV, additional 4 kV
For Decay-Plus:Functional image pulse with 1.5 kVFault pattern pulse with up to 80 kV, additional 4 kV
ARM® live burningFor ARM® live burn down method, the arc bur-ning process can be observed “live” at the fault location using the refl ection measurement. This method is particularly useful for diffi cult faults in oil-fi lled joints.
ARM®-MultishotARM® multi-shot technology makes it possi-ble to display 15 fault patterns per surge pulse. An automated analysis supports the user, imme-diately displaying the best result – a very useful feature, in particular for wet and oil-fi lled joints.
High-impedance and intermittent faults are pre-cisely measured with the help of acoustic loca-tion. With controllable voltage levels of 4, 8, 16 and 32 kV, all requirements for low and medi-um voltage networks are covered. An additio-nal, low-noise and wear-free thyristor surge le-vel with 2 kV is available.
Line tracing
The audio frequency system controlled by the system is used to locate cable routes and for ex-act location of cable faults.
The powerful audio frequency generators with up to 200 W transmission power support the patented SignalSelect® process and the capaci-tive step voltage process.

Sheath testing and fault location
Sheath testingSheath fault testing on plastic-insulated medi-um-voltage and high-voltage cables can be per-formed up to 20 kV.
Pre-locationWith up to 10 kV output voltage, highly sensi-tive measurement equipment and a fully auto-matic measurement procedure, even high-impe-dance errors in long cables (e.g. offshore) are no problem.
Special features:
■ Bi-polar pre-location technology to eliminate thermoelectric offset voltages and galvanic effects (wet joints)
■ Independent of resistances of shield and conductor as well as auxiliary lines and con-nection clamps
■ Audio frequency output for line tracing 8.44 kHz, 15 W (option)
Pinpoint locationUsing four voltage levels from 5 to 20 kV at the fault location, Centrix 2.0 generates a safe step potential, potential gradient, which can be loca-ted with the help of earthing rods and the ESG NT earth leakage detector.
A wide range of functionality for precise fault location

Cable testing and diagnostics
Insulation testAutomatic measurement of insulation resi-stance and the test specimen capacity with up to 1,000 V test voltage.
DC testingDC testing is possible with a voltage of up to 40 kV (optional 80 kV).
VLF test according to DIN VDE 0276The patented technology of the powerful VLF test attachment makes possible large sample ca-pacities. It is thus possible to simultaneously test all three phases on long cable stretches as well without reducing the test frequency. This provi-des a time saving of two hours.
Alternatively, a VLF sinusoidal test attachment is available: For testing and as a voltage genera-tor for the optional TanDelta diagnostics system (for assessment of age-related condition of MSP cables).
Breakdown phase detection for three-phase testingWith simultaneous measurement of all three phases, it is possible to immediately display the phase on which a breakdown occurred. This saves time and protects the cable.
Partial discharge diagnosisThe new 50 Hz slope technology makes possible an accompanying PD diagnosis during commis-sioning testing of MSP cables. The PD diagno-sis is performed during polarity reversal (slope) of the test voltage. The rapid change of polari-ty optimally represents the typical load at 50 Hz mains frequency. With the virtually power-fre-quency load of the test object, the measure-ment parameters such as PD inception voltage, frequency and level can be directly compared with the 50 Hz mains frequency.
Unique testing and diagnostics system: TDM 45
Three voltage shapes in one device

Remote controlImportant functions can be controlled remotely. This makes it possible to trigger an emergency shutdown of the system in case of danger, for example. To reduce the load of the cable due to surge pulses, they can be triggered remotely.
Self-contained power supply
■ Synchronous generator 7 kVASuitable vehicle with auxiliary drive necessary.
■ Travel powerElectronic generator 5 KVA.
■ Battery powerBattery-operated self-contained power sup-ply of the measurement system with lithi-um-ion batteries, charge electronics and display unit.
SafetyAn essential part of Centrix 2.0 is the safety sys-tem, which monitors all safety-relevant parame-ters in accordance with current standards.
The following criteria are monitored:
■ Loop resistance: System earth to station earth, auxiliary earth to station earth
■ Step voltage: Earth to the vehicle chassis
■ Fast ramp voltages
■ Rear door switch
■ Safety key switch
■ Internal/external emergency switch (EN 50191)
Separation of operation and protective earth in connection with an isolating transformer en-sures safe earthing conditions.
SafeDischarge technologyA unique feature is the high level of safety pro-vided by a controlled forced discharge of all sys-tem components when an emergency stop is performed or a mains failure occurs. The energy stored in the system is thus no longer dischar-ged into the cable.
