Minimum duration of B.A.LL.B (Hons.) course is five academic years and maximum duration is seven academic years. There are two semesters in an academic year. Continuous examination and evaluation are integral part of continuous learning process. Our examination and evaluation scheme is designed to achieve three objectives. First to test the subject knowledge and its application through problem based written examination. Second to assess the research skills of the students, the students are required to write a research paper in every subject in the form of project. Third to evaluate the presentation skills of the students, the students are required to make a presentation of their projects and take Viva-Voce Examination.     The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU), was established by the Rashtriya Vidhi

    1 B.A.LL.B. (Hons.)

    3 Master of Cyber Law & Information Security (MCLIS)

    4 Ph.D. in Law

    Admission to Ph.D. program is done through an All India Entrance Test conducted by the

    University. NLIU offers (i) Ph. D. in Law; (ii) Ph.D. (Inter-disciplinary); and (iii) Ph.D. in Cyber

    Law and Information Security. Teaching Assistantship may be provided to non-JRF candidates after

    completion of their Course-work for two years.

    5 Post Graduate Diploma courses through Distance Education Mode:

    Three P.G. diploma Courses on (1) Cyber Law & Cyber Security; (2) GST; and (3) Consumer

    Protection Laws & Practice have been considered.

    Learning & Teaching Methods

    The NLIU strongly believes that in class rooms students and teachers create new knowledge.

    Integration of social science courses in the teaching of law courses, use of case method, Socratic

    method, case study method, problem based learning and clinical education are the hall mark of the

    teaching – learning process at NLIU. Moot court and client counseling competitions, language and

    computer proficiency are the regular and vibrant features of NLIU. Constant and persistent

    endeavors are made to keep abreast with the current national and international learning and teaching

    practices and to ensure that the curriculum meets the needs, challenges and opportunities of legal

    education in the twenty-first century.

    Admission

    Intake and Reservation for B.A.LL.B (Hons.) Course

    Students are admitted for 2020-21 through CLAT-2020. NLIU shall admit students to its

    B.A.LL.B (Hons.) Course as per the following Table:

    * Only those OBC candidates can claim reservation under this category whose father/mother do not

    fall under creamy layer. Such candidates have to produce requisite certificate from competent

    authority to the effect that their parents at present do not come under creamy layer category.

    1. 50% Seats are horizontally reserved for candidates having domicile certificate of State of

    Madhya Pradesh in the respective category

    2. Eligibility for admission under NRI/NRI Sponsored Category, the candidate must be:

    An NRI/OCI Card Holder/PIO Card Holder himself or herself,

    OR

    Sponsored by a First Degree Blood Relation or Second Degree Blood relation who is an

    NRI/OCI Card Holder/PIO Card Holder.

    Only those will be eligible who have given option as an NRI/NRI sponsored in the CLAT

    application form.

    3. Reserved for candidates from the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

    4. Reserved for candidates from the Economical Backward Section.

    30 Seats are horizontally reserved for women candidates (excluding NRI/NRI sponsored

    and supernumerary quota).

    5 Seats are horizontally reserved for Persons with Disability (excluding NRI/NRI

    sponsored and supernumerary quota).

    Note:- In addition to the above seats Five Seats are earmark for Foreign National Candidates

    for direct admission without appearing in the CLAT examination.

    Full Tuition Fee Waiver & Scholarships

    NLIU seeks to encourage meritorious students with a belief that money should not become a

    roadblock for meritorious students with limited means. To realize this objective, the University has

    instituted the following Scholarship:

    Two Merit cum Means Scholarships one in the memory of Late Justice J. S. Verma and the

    other in the name of the University. The scholarships cover full tuition fee waiver for the entire

    duration of the B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) Course. In the first year of the course the scholarships are

    awarded to the NLIU students securing highest marks in CLAT. From second year to fifth year

    the scholarships are awarded to the students securing highest marks (without repeat) in the

    NLIU examinations of first year, second year, third year and fourth year. To be eligible for the

    award of the scholarships merit alone is not sufficient to make a student eligible for the award.

    The annual income of the parents of the students shall not exceed the amount as may be

    prescribed by the university from time to time.

    Library

    The Library “Gyan Mandir” is housed in a centrally air-conditioned building. It is well equipped

    with the state of the art technology and tools. It has a very rich collection of learned tomes, national

    and international journals of law, humanities and social sciences. A large collection of e-resources

    like Lexis Nexis, Hein Online, JSTOR, Manupatra, AIR, SCC, and other materials are the hallmark

    of the Library.

    Auditorium, Classrooms, Hostels and Canteen

    The entire University campus has wireless internet facility. Class Rooms are air-conditioned,

    equipped with LED/LCD projectors, Smart Boards and other facilities. University has an air-

    conditioned computer lab, having 120 computers with 1 GBPS internet speed. Besides there are

    video conferencing facilities, auditorium, seminar halls, conference rooms, etc. There are four

    hostels two each for men and women. It also has a well furnished guest house. University has a

    modern, cozy, well furnished canteen on the campus. Recently, it has a 900 seat capacity

    Convention centre, named Justice J. S. Verma Memorial Convention Centre, with the state of the art

    facility.

    Sports Facilities

    Exercise of both mind and body is necessary to keep an individual healthy and fit. With a view to

    provide a congenial environment on the campus both indoor and outdoor sports facilities are

    available. Indoor facilities include state-of-the-art gymnasium, badminton courts, table tennis and

    pool game, outdoor facilities include tennis courts, volley ball courts and basket ball court.

    Security on the Campus

    Entire campus is covered by a boundary wall. Round the clock security is provided by trained

    security personnel.

    Centers of Excellence

    There are eleven Centers of Excellence : (1) Law Governance and Human Rights; (2) Civil &

    Criminal Justice Administration; (3) Gender and Health Law; (4) Science, Technology and Law; (5)

    Environmental Law; (6) Business and Commercial Law; (7) Law, Language & Culture; (8) Socio-

    Legal Studies; (9) WTO Studies; (10) Clinical Legal Education and (11) Rajiv Gandhi National

    Cyber Law Centre with the support of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of

    India.

    Medals

    1) Pt. Ramlal Ji Sharma Memorial Gold Medal is awarded to the Topper Student of B.A.LL.B.

    (Hons.) course. Pt. Ramlal Ji Sharma Memorial Silver Medal is awarded to the Topper Student

    of first year, second year, third year and fourth year of B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) course.

    2) Justice Shachindra Diwedi Memorial Gold Medal is awarded to the Topper of LL.M. Corse.

    3) Justice Nani A. Palkhiwala Memorial Gold Medal is awarded to the Topper of LL.M. Course.

    4) Mrs. Pratibha Dubey Memorial Gold Medal is awarded to the Topper Female of

    B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) Course.

    5) Justice G. P. Singh Memorial Gold Medal is awarded to the Topper of B.A.LL.B.(Hons.)

    Course.

    6) Justice J. S. Verma Memorial Gold Medal is awarded to the Topper of B.A.LL.B.(Hons.)

    Course.

    A View of the NLIU Campus

    Publications

    NLIU publishes three journals: (1) Indian Law Review; (2) NLIU Journal of Intellectual

    Property Law; (3) NLIU Law Review and (4) NLIU Journal of Business Laws. University has

    also published research monographs on different topics.

    Annual Lectures and Conferences

    NLIU organizes annually Justice Shacheendra Dwivedi Memorial Lecture, Justice G. P. Singh

    Memorial Lecture and special regional and global conferences on contemporary issues.

    In addition to regular teaching and research, training programs, refresher courses and workshops

    for teachers and other target groups are continuing feature of the University. University is actively

    engaged in conducting research and consultancy projects. To mention a few, it had undertaken

    projects sponsored by Government of M.P., M.P. State Biodiversity Board, Bureau of Police

    Research and Development, Ministry of Human Resources Development , New Delhi; ICSSR,

    UGC, UNICEF, UNDP, GTZ (Germany), UNFPA, etc.

    Moot Court & Mediation

    NLIU has a Moot Court Association (MCA), an elected body of students comprising of successful

    and experienced mooters. NLIU organizes three Moot Court competitions annually i.e. the NLIU-

    Link Legal Client Counseling Competition, NLIU National Corporate Law Moot and Justice R. K.

    Tankha Memorial International Moot Court Competition and other moot court competitions from

    time to time. NLIU also hosts the prestigious NLIU-INADR International Mediation Competition

    annually. NLIU students participate in international moot Court competitions every year and have

    brought laurels to the University.

    Academic Exchange Program

    NLIU has an understanding with the renowned Centre for Advanced Study and Research on

    Intellectual Property (CASRIP), Seattle, U.S.A., and two students attend the summer course at

    Washington University, Seattle every year. CASRIP provides to these students scholarships to

    attend the program. NLIU Provides a financial assistance of ₹ 30,000/- each of the students.

    3. Fees once deposited shall not be refunded under any circumstances whatsoever.

    4. As per the order of the Department of Tribal and Scheduled Cast Welfare, Govt. of M.P., Bhopal the

    candidates belonging SC/ST and OBC categories of M.P. are eligible to get reimbursement of

    certain fee and charges from government of India or government of M.P. as the case may be.

    *Hostel charges shall be as given at S.No. IV or on actual basis whichever is higher.
