As I menoned to you some me back, he is very happy to be coming to CTK. Currently he is finalizing his work down at St. John’s in San Marcos. He came up for lunch last week to meet the staff and will be moving some of his things this week, and next. Many of you have looked him up on the internet and seen his energec style in his catechecal presentaons that are on line. So you are all in for a treat when he gets here. He was explaining to the staff at lunch this week that his strengths are adult catechesis, youth ministry, technology evangelizaon, and liturgy. Please make him welcome when he arrives! I was looking for a biography on Fr. John and came across his bio and leer of thanksgiving on the day of his ordina- on back in 2010. I thought you’d enjoy reading it. Jungtack John Kim, 36, was born in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, to Giho and Buyoung Kim. He attended all secondary schools in South Korea, then entered Kunkuk University in Seoul in 1993 as a Korean Literature major. After military service in South Korea, he studied English in Australia, and eventually entered the University of Melbourne as an Information Systems major. While studying at UT Austin as an exchange program participant, he decided to enter Holy Trinity Seminary in Irving in 2000. He then attended St. Joseph Seminary College in Covington, La. in 2003, and then St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston in 2005. Before entering the seminary, he was actively involved in the Church as a volunteer teacher, a catechist, a liturgist and a cantor. On this day of blessing and joy, I would like to express the most gratitude to God almighty – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit – who invites and confers upon me this holy vocation to priesthood. I also confess my great love to the Blessed Mother, Virgin Mary, who has walked with me on the journey of priestly formation. I also give thanks to all the saints, especially, St. Andrew Kim Taegon, St. Paul Chong Hasang and Companions, all the martyrs in Korea, St. Pius V and St. John the Apostle. While I reflect on my journey of priestly formation, I have realized that many people have been involved in forming me to be a good priest. Archbishop Gregory Aymond has been my spiritual father through his words, prayers and letters. I cannot thank him enough for what he has done for me and for my family. Also a special thanks goes to Bishop Joe S. Vásquez who invites me to become his co- worker. I sincerely thank Fathers Edward Karasek, David Konderla, Mike Sis and Brian McMaster, Vocation Directors throughout my formation, and Fathers John Collet, Scott Underwood and Damon Geiger for my spiritual growth. I also would like to appreciate Fa- thers Kunsuk Chung, Paul McCallum, Yonghuk Lee, Hokun Park, Dean Wilhelm, Michael Grey, David Ivey and Msgr. John McCaffrey who have helped me to be a good priest of Jesus Christ. And I thank my brother seminarians for their friendship. My thanks to all the people of St. Andrew Kim Taegon Korean Parishes in Austin and Houston for all of their prayers and support. I thank the faithful of St. Mary Immaculate Conception in Brenham, my pastoral year parish as well as the faithful of St. Joseph in Bry- an, my diaconate year parish. I cannot forget to show my appreciation for all of the members of the Knights of Columbus, especially, St. John Neumann Council # 10836, of the Serra Club and of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Most of all, I am grateful to my parents, who gave me life in this world, have supported me in any way they can, and to my siblings. It is a new beginning of my life in Christ. Please keep me in your prayers so that I may resemble Christ more and more each day and become a worthy dispenser of his sacraments and love to his flock. May God abundantly bless each of you. Weekend The Peter’s Pence Collection is taken up worldwide

to support the most disadvantaged - - victims of war,

oppression, natural disasters and others in need of

emergency assistance. Pope Francis has asked us to

“care for those who are in need of attention, understanding and

help, to bring them the warm closeness of God’s love through

tangible actions of sensitivity, of sincere affection and of love.”

The Holy Father uses the Peter’s Pence Collection to strengthen

dioceses, religious orders, and struggling communities of faith

    when they need it most.

    Men’s Mass July 19

Bishop Joe Vásquez will celebrate the sixth annu-

al Men's Mass July 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Ca-

thedral in Austin. Men throughout the Austin Diocese are

invited to celebrate the Eucharist. A reception will follow in

the Bishop's Hall. This Mass is sponsored by the Central Tex-

as Fellowship of Catholic Men (CTFCM). For more infor-

    mation about CTFCM, visit www.ctfcatholicmen.org.

    June 21-22: The Solemnity

of the Body & Blood of

    Christ

    This Sunday we celebrate the

gift of the Body and Blood of

Christ, which gives us life! In

    the Eucharist we share that taste of heaven;

that glorious banquet of the kingdom, which

is Christ’s promise to us. But this share of

heaven calls us to a way of being that re-

flects heaven – a life of generous self-

sacrificing love. During this opening week of

the Fortnight of Freedom, the Freedom to

serve, how will we express the love of Christ

that has been given so generously to us?

    a nosotros?
