Page 3: The Morgan Magazine Issue#6

As women we are daughters, sisters, significant others, and friends, but we are also business

women; that is why time management is so important. Not just to make it to our destinations

on time but also to maintain our relationships whether business or personal. We have to

understand while building a business it is important to make time for your personal life.

Especially with our families and significant others, because according to Billy D. Williams in

Mahogany success means nothing without ‘people’ you love, to share it with.

Now, you also have to make sure that you have people in your corner that support your

movement, you cannot expect people to be “down for you” if they do not support what you’re

doing, you cannot be surprised when they fade from your life.

Time Management is the key to success whether your building and maintaing a business or

building and maintaining your personal life. Let us not get so caught up in one area of our

lives that we neglect everything else, because you will look up one day and notice all you have

is that one thing.

Sincerely,

Co-Editor in Chief

Ashley Martinez is an up and coming artist who has a talent like no other. She is  beautiful, has a unique, powerful voice and is on her way to becoming the next big thing. (Think a combination of Christina Aguilera, Beyonce and Lady Gaga.)

The young songstress got her start at the tender age of five, when she would preform at day care. Proficient in Spanish and Italian, she went on to do talent shows and by thirteen, she was recording her first album.

However, that is not the most impressive thing about this young lady. What impressed me the most was her dedication to Sound Affects, a program that brings awareness to cancer through musicians. To her, it is important to support and bring awareness to all cancers because it is a terrible thing to go through. She says it is dangerous and unfortunate and hopes that being a part of this program will help get the word out and hopefully one day find a cure. For more information on Ashley and Sound Affects, please visit http://soundaffects.org/artist/ashley-martinez/

“Never stay the same be dynamic”

Page 16: The Morgan Magazine Issue#6

“Fear is the number one saboteur of success”, these were some of the profound words uttered by Chantelle Fraser when we spent the day together at the photo shoot for the magazine. We were looking forward to meeting. Chantelle is a graduate of the London School of Economics, owner of Flawless Talent Casting Company, and the newest member of the hit TV show Blood Sweet and Heels on Bravo. We believe Chantelle is a great role model for women.

This statuesque beauty is not only a talent but a pleasure to be around. The day felt more like hanging out with a new friend more than anything else. She is friendly and easy going. Chantelle made the entire team feel at ease. She is not a diva, but could definitely be one if she wanted to because not only is she beautiful she is wise, intelligent and her legs go on for days. Humble not to say the least. Chantelle’s flawless body may have something to do with the fact that she is a vegan. Coming from a Jamaican background we learn from Chantelle that some of

the Jamaican delicacies are easily transferred to vegan. “Tofu is a great substitute”, she explained. She added, “ seitan is a protein, it actually tastes like chicken, its a wheat product, you can jerk it or curry it, taste pretty good actually.”

For young women Chantelle’s advice is, “Try to be a well rounded person, work on your inner beauty as well as your outer beauty. Always, constantly develop, never stay the same, be dynamic. Life if about building relationships it is good to have degrees, a good education, and great work experience. If you do not get along with people, you will probably limit your growth. Work on being fearless. The way I live my life is pushing through fear barriers. Fear is the number one saboteur of your success. Most people don’t do things because they are secretly afraid to do it.”

It was a pleasure and an honor to spend the day with a true beauty inside and out!

“I've been a glamour and swimsuit model for  the past five years. I think what primarily makes me stand out as a model, is that I started with a passion for photography. Even in my teenage years I aspired to be a photographer,

focusing on architecture  and landscape. Modeling has provided me with a different perspective of the art of photography. I love that I am able to work with photographers of all different styles and genres, as it allows me to be exposed to all different techniques.  In addition to my passion for modeling and photography, I also enjoy writing. I

feel very privileged to be able to make a living doing what makes me happy, very  few people can say they are excited to go to work every day”.

WISDOM, JUSTICE, MODERATIONGEORGIA STATE-THE PEACH STATEThe Peach State because growers produce the highest quantity of the fruit. Became official in 1995.

Did you know that your state has a motto. A word or phrase that tells you what the state stands for or what they are known to produce. The states also have a nickname, I live in New York and was completely wrong about the nickname and the motto. Here are a few of the states and their mottos and nicknames. if your state is not here you can go to www.ereferencedesk.com and learn more about your state or other states that you may be curious about.

“God Bless you”

The Ancient Romans used to say “Jupiter preserve you or Salve” which means good health. The Greeks would wish “long life” God Bless you, came about in the sixth century during the bubonic plague epidemic. Sneezing may have been a symptom so, it is attributed to Pope Gregory the Great. Say god bless you, people would believe that the illness would not spread to them.

“Leaving a Tip”Around the 16th

English guest to mansions were expected to “vail” after servants worked above and beyond their usual duties during their visit. In 1760 footmen and valet expected vail, this brought about complaints, it was expensive. Attempts to abolish brought about riots in 1764. It is felt that Samuel Johnson brought about the word tip. While visiting a coffeehouse there was a jar that stated to insure promptitude. After the Civil War newly rich Americans visiting Europe brought back the practice. “Bridesmaids/Groomsmen”

The tridition dates back to ancient Rome, they used ten maids and ten men that stood by the couple to confuse the evil spirits. Since they all dressed alike the demons would not know who the bride and groom were. The groomsmen escorted the bride to prevent her from being kidnapped and her dowery stolen. Something new is another superstitus tridition to ward off evil spirits.

HOW IT GOT STARTED The things we do everyday and may not know how it started

“Candles on a cake”Candles on a cake can be traced back to the ancient Greeks who burned candles as an offering to their many gods. They were made round to honor Artemis the Goddess of the moon. The lit candles on the cake represents the glow of the moon. The smoke leaving the candle took the wish to the gods in the sky. The birthday cake started in Germany in the middle ages to celebrate childrenʼs birthday. Back then cake was a coarse, bread like product. It became sweeter later. In the 17th century more elebrate cakes were made with icing, layers and decorations, but only the rich could afford it.

DEARLISA J@DearLisaJ

Dear Lisa J,

My best friend and her ex-husband have been divorced for ten years. She

is currently married and has been for the past five years to another man. I

recently ran into her ex-husband three months ago and we started dating. I

was wondering should I tell her?

--- No Sex In the Champagne Room

Well Hello No Sex In The Champagne Room,

First of all, you a special bitch arenʼt you. Now this is just my opinion, I

wouldnʼt date my BEST FRIENDʼS Ex-Husband, but thatʼs just me. Since we

arenʼt the same Iʼll just say, if thatʼs your best friend, you should tell her and I

hope she understands and still considers you a friend, because I wouldnʼt

consider you a friend. My mother always said the heart wants what is wants

and I must agree. I hope you guys make it because this relationship may

cost you a friendship. It may also make your best friend question if you

always had feelings for her ex-husband and she may also question if you

are looking at her current husband with the luscious eye. Bottom line, talk to

your best friend, because you would tell her anything else and she also has

a right to know from you instead of hearing it from anyone else.

--- Lisa J
