Help starts as soon as a skill or behavior problem is noticed

A plan for improvement is implemented immediately

Decisions about progress occur every few weeks

If not enough improvement, the plan is changed

Changing behavior usually takes longer than changing academic skills

PS-RtI is NOT a way to delay referral to special education

It is part of the individual student evaluation process through the observations and progress monitoring data collected on the interventions being implemented

You have a legal right to ASK that your child be evaluated by the school to determine eligibility for special education services. The PS/RtI process will be used for this evaluation

The school has a legal responsibility to provide a response to this request

The School psychologist evaluation will be only a part of the comprehensive evaluation done at your child’s school
