Single-Issue PartiesConcentrate on a single public policy matter.

Economic Protest PartiesParties rooted in periods of economic discontent.

Greenback party

Greenback Anti-monopoly party 1874-1889. Fielded presidential candidates 1876, 1880, 1884. Wanted a gold backed currency. Tried to forge and alliance with farmers and labor.Splinter PartiesBreak off from one of the two major parties.

Roosevelt did not like Tafts Conservative views. Tafts break up of US Steel using the Sherman Antitrust Act went against TRs thought that it was a good trust. TR excluded black southerners as corrupt, but allowed blacks from all other areas which angered Southerners.States Rights Democrats Short lived for one national election (1948). Segregationist party who supported Jim Crow Laws and White Supremacy. Little affect except on the weakening of the Deep South in furture national elections.

National States Rights Party - During the 1960 presidential election, at a secret meeting held in a rural lodge near Dayton, Ohio,[6] the NSRP nominated Governor of Arkansas Orval E. Faubus for President and retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral John G. Crommelin of Alabama for Vice President. Electoral Votes 1948
