Located approximately 500km from Perth on the Trans-Australian railway line, the Carina Iron Ore Project involves •  Open cut mining from a single pit using conventional mining •  methods •  Dry crushing and screening facility •  Stockpiling of processed ore •  Ore haulage via rail •  Set up and maintenance of an accommodation village. The Carina mine produces an average of 4 MTPA of iron ore fines. The ore is mined using conventional excavators and dump trucks. The ore is then processed on-site at the new 5MTPA capacity plant before being railed to Kwinana Bulk Terminal, in Fremantle.

Page 11: The Mineral Resources Group Operations and its expanding portfolio of iron ore projects

•  In total, 4,008,491 tonnes have been exported from the project since commencement of export operations in November 2011. (15 months to February 2013)

•  Mine development is well advanced and ore supply and presentation has become consistent. This provides good blending opportunities and the ability to deliver on specification product to our customers.

•  Movement of iron ore throughout the Carina supply chain (mining, road haulage, processing and rail) has been streamlined and the operation is well placed to increase shipped volumes in the March Quarter as normalised.

•  Port operations and debottlenecking improves access to shipping through Fremantle Port.
