I hope you are aware of all that is going on this weekend in the life of First Baptist! On Saturday at 11:00 a.m., the youth are asked to come to a cookout at the youth building where they will be able to meet our prospective youth minister, Joel Harvey, and his wife Grace. At 5:00 p.m., the entire church is invited to a pot luck supper in the Fireside Room. The church will provide the chicken and

the drinks. You’re simply asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Afterwards, there will be a question and answer session in which you will be able to ask questions of Joel. Finally, on Sunday morning at both 8:30 a.m. and 10:50 a.m., Joel will share his testimony and a vote will be taken during a special-called business meeting as to whether or not to call him as our next youth minister. Please pray for Joel and Grace and make every effort to attend this weekend!

Last but not least, Brian Black and our praise team will be leading a night of worship this Sunday at 6:00 . The entire service will be dedicated to singing songs of praise to our King as well as praying for our community and our country. Afterwards, an ice cream fellowship will be held in the Fireside Room. The church will provide the ice cream and the toppings as you build your own sundae! In His Service, Bro. Bob

Worship Music for Sunday (July 24) This Sunday Bro. Bob will be preaching the message, “Do I

worship music for the Contemporary service at 8:30 a.m. Amanda Ellis will share a solo to open the

10:50 a.m. service. Plus, the Worship Choir will share an upbeat praise anthem (“Holy Is the Lord”)

just before Bro. Bob’s message. Lance and Stacy will play the instruments for the 10:50 a.m. service. Sunday

evening our praise team will lead us in an “all-music” service of Contemporary Worship music at 6:00! Invite

your neighbors and friends for this great program of musical worship with an emphasis on prayer, this Sunday

night at 6:00!

Our Wednesday Faith Nights in July will be wrapping up on July 27th with our Night at the Park. We will all be meeting at the County park from 6-8pm for a fun night of games, fresh air, and watermelon! Please come on out and bring the family! Cheerfully in Christ, Jeremy

Preparations for our 2016 Inasmuch Day on Saturday, September 17th have begun! While we will be doing some of the same projects we did last year such as food drives, gift baskets and home

improvements, this year we would like to focus our efforts on our surrounding neighborhoods.

In order to determine our neighbors’ specific needs, on July 30 from 10:00 am until noon we will fan out in small groups and spend some time talking to our neighbors one-on-one. We will be sharing with them a list of projects/jobs we might be able to help them with, as well as listening to their suggestions on more ways we can help.

If you are interested in getting to know our neighbors while making a difference in our community, please contact the church office at 839-6966 to sign up. All ages are needed—be sure to bring the kiddos.

At this month’s business meeting, the deacons

recommended and the church approved the

following security guidelines which will be

services have begun with the exception of the front door, the

Fireside Room door, and the door underneath the sanctuary

by the men’s restroom

* A check-in system will be established by our Children’s

Minister for children who are being brought to

church. Children must be signed in and signed out at either

check-in area on the first and second floors by the elevator

* Volunteers will patrol the premises while services are

being conducted with at least one individual watching the

video monitors in the TV Room, another volunteer on foot

with a two-way radio, and a third volunteer seated in the rear

of the sanctuary

If you have any questions, see our chairman of deacons,

Wayne Young. Thank you for patience and understanding as

we seek to ensure that persons can worship in an atmosphere

that is safe and secure.

As I’m sure many of you already know by now, my name

is Joel Harvey. My wife, Grace and I are so excited to meet

all of you at First Baptist this weekend. I hope we have an

opportunity to meet you all. We will do our best to

remember your names, but we can’t make any promises!

I am 26 years old, and I graduated from Boyce College at the

Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in May of 2015 with a

Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministry. I have a passion for youth, and I

have desired to be a pastor to youth for a long time. I spent three

summers working at Crossings Camps as a summer staffer between

2010-1012. It was while working there my first summer that God

revealed to me how strong a desire I had, and still have for youth. At

that point I was majoring in oversees missions. As I spent every

waking hour of the day that first summer talking with students,

laughing with them, playing games with them and sharing the Gospel

of Christ with them, I knew God was calling me to minister to youth.

I have been working towards being a youth pastor for a long time,

and I am so excited for the possibility of being the youth pastor here at

First Baptist. I know the power of the Word of God, and I know its

importance for all of our lives. I desire to teach His Word to everyone,

but especially to students. 2 Peter 1:3 says, “His divine power has

granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness.” This passage

shows us that through God’s Word we have all that we need to live a

Godly life. I know that by studying and knowing God’s Word one

will truly be happy in this life. God has created us to find joy in Him,

and it is through His Word that we learn how to live this way. This is

what I know and believe to be true, and this is what I desire to teach.

Through my ministry, I want to equip students to become disciples

who equip disciples. As followers of Christ, God has called us to

make disciples of the nations. We are all called to share the Gospel

with those around us. Knowing that this is who we are called to be as

children of God, I want to teach in a way that students in my ministry

are equipped to make disciple of Christ.

Through this little profile, I hope that you will know the desire I

have to teach God’s Word and to be a pastor of students. But I also

want you to know a little bit about Grace and myself. I know that

Crossings has meant a lot to many of you here at First Baptist. That is

something that we will all have in common. Grace and I both went to

Crossings as students and also worked as Staffers there. It’s also

where we met. We met at Jonathan Creek fine years ago, and the rest

is history!

We both enjoy being outdoors. It is something that I especially

love. I love hiking and camping. I am also a big fan of sports,

especially the Pittsburgh Steeler. I’m sure that the question that is at

the forefront of your mind is, Are you a ll UK fans?” the answer is

yes.

As I said earlier we are so excited to meet you all this weekend.

After lots of time and prayer, Grace and I both believe that God is

leading us here to First Baptist. We hope that after prayer you all feel

the same way as well.

We can’t wait to meet you this weekend, Joel Harvey
