The Medium Breaker rangeGenuine all-rounders – dependable, powerful, versatile

Page 2: The Medium Breaker range - DEMOLITION TECHNOLOGIES

Atlas Copco’s range of medium-duty hydraulic breakers was developed for a wide variety of applications. The com-bined gas/oil power principle means they are both powerful and highly flexible with regard to oil flow rate and pressure. Their technically advanced percussion mechanisms, e.g. with long piston stroke, reduce unavoidable vibrations far more efficiently than many other makes. Our Medium Breakers are ideal for road work, trenching, general demolition, and primary and secondary rock breaking.

These medium-duty hydraulic breakers are also at home reducing demolition rubble for feeding to recycling plants, and in all other jobs which call for a robust design, reliability and long life.

Both their general versatility and their compatibility with a broad spectrum of carriers make these breakers genuine all-rounders.

Installed as standard: 4 decades of experience in percussion technology

Convincing technology for tough jobs

Constant impact energy whatever the oil flow rate The Medium Breakers are powered by a combination of oil and gas (nitrogen). 70% of the impact energy is generated by gas power, which means that the breakers are virtually independent of the hydraulic supply from the carrier.

Dependable and low on service thanks to simple design There are only three moving parts: • the percussion piston • the control valve • the pilot valve

Routine maintenance takes only a matter of minutes.

Robust and stableThe breakers in the medium-duty series have robust and stable guide systems to handle the jobs involved. Exposed areas are made from highly wear-resistant materials to mini-mize wear.

Less strain on man and machineThe long piston stroke and the vibration and noise-insulated mounting of the percussion mechanism mean that the Medium Breakers run very smoothly and quietly.

High durability thanks to effective dust protection On job sites with particularly high dust loads, e.g. tunneling and overhead demo-lition work, fitting the hydraulic breaker with the DustProtector system has proved invaluable. A combination of several strip-pers reliably prevents abrasive rock dust and other foreign bodies from penetrating the lower breaker section, protecting the percussion mechanism from damage and avoiding premature wear to the bushings. DustProtector is available as an optional extra on models MB 700, MB 1000, MB 100 and MB 1700.

Reliable lubrication – life insurance for any breaker The ContiLube® II automatic lube unit ensures the optimum, cost-effective lubri-cation of the breaker. Mounted directly on the hydraulic breaker, the system is easy to set, use and monitor. The cartridges contain 500 g of high-viscosity chisel paste. ContiLube® II is fitted as stand-ard on the MB 700, MB 1000, MB 100, MB 1700 breakers, and is available as an optional extra for the MB 500 model.

Advantages: • Compact- self-priming pump, delivers

chisel paste only when needed for opti-mized consumption

• Positioned directly on the breaker, the unit is self-sufficient, easy to access, dispenses with the need for long con-necting hoses and allows the carrier operator to monitor paste levels at all times

• All ports are protected inside the breaker box

• Cartridges can be changed quickly with-out the need for tools (screw fit)

• Cartridges are available worldwide and are refillable

Extras every breaker should have

Modern breakers are gentle on the environment but tough on rock

Effective noise and vibration damping as standard The VibroSilenced system is a highly effective arrangement of elastic damping elements which isolate the percussion mechanism acoustically from the external guide system. It is no coincidence that Atlas Copco breakers are among the quietest on the market. Moreover, the VibroSilenced system prevents damaging vibrations which could otherwise be detrimental to both carrier and operator. All Medium Breaker models are fitted with the VibroSilenced system as standard.

Maximum productivity through optimized impact energyThe AutoControl automatic stroke-switching system opti-mizes the ratio of impact energy to impact rate so as to maximize percussive performance at all times. (Percussive performance = impact energy x impact rate). Soft material: lower impact energy, higher impact rate = max. percussive performanceHard material: maximum impact energy, reduced impact rate = max. percussive performance

AutoControl avoids blank firing and reduces the load on both carrier and hydraulic breaker (by reducing energy in the event of blank firing)

AutoControl always starts the breaker in short-stroke mode – reduced energy permits reliable centering.

AutoControl ensures maximum energy recovery from each blow and thus enhances output without increasing hydraulic input.

AutoControl guarantees maximum efficiency and smooth running.

Perfect handling ensures maximum productivityThe “StartSelect” system allows the start-up and shut-off behavior of the breaker to be set in line with conditions.

“AutoStart” modefor jobs in unstable ground, such as:

• secondary reduction of mined rock• working horizontally or overhead• breaking light concrete structures

“AutoStop” modefor jobs on firm ground such as:

• trenching • bench leveling in the quarry • excavating foundations in rock • breaking heavy concrete structures

Don’t compromise on productivity

Tools for every jobToday’s hydraulic breakers offer a significantly improved ratio of percussive performance to weight, which in turn imposes far greater loads on all breaker components. The dimensions, material properties and tip geometry of work-ing tools have a major impact on reliability, wear behavior, performance and productivity.

Genuine working tools from Atlas Copco are made from a special alloy that has been optimized for hydraulic breaker applications. A complex heat treatment process and strict quality control at all stages of production in our own facili-ties guarantee maximum durability.

Working tools may look just like a piece of steel, but they are the result of a long and complex development process backed by extensive experience in the field.

So do not take any risks. Only genuine working tools will ensure that your Atlas Copco breaker remains the unit that you bought: a reliable, safe production unit good for many millions of impacts.

Connection hosesGenuine Atlas Copco hoses are designed to with-stand the strains of demolition work and are available in a standard and special length. The hose material is protected against chafing by a spiral steel wire. Special screw couplings allow the hoses to be attached to all industrial carriers.
