Dear Parents/Carers, The Lost Toys Big Christmas Adventure! Towner Art Gallery The Towner welcomes a brand-new musical about three toys who have been created in The North Pole Christmas Factory. A doll, an Emotibot (a robot with a lever to change his emotions) and a superhero fall out of Father Christmas’s sleigh and land in Eastbourne. The show follows their journey to reach their children before they wake on Christmas morning, stopping at several familiar local landmarks on the way. The show features live music and original songs by Tony award-winning composer, Sarah Travis. We were lucky enough to have a special visitor this week in assembly who invited the children of Parkland to design some costumes for the characters. We were delighted by their efforts and these will be on show at The Towner if you would like to pop in and admire them.

Dear Parents/Carers,
The Lost Toys Big Christmas Adventure! Towner Art Gallery
The Towner welcomes a brand-new musical about three toys who have been created in The North Pole Christmas Factory. We were lucky enough to
have a special visitor this week in assembly who invited the children of Parkland to design some costumes for the characters. We were delighted by their efforts and these will be on show at The Towner if you would like to pop in and admire them.
HOMEWORK Last week we launched our new homework policy and have been thrilled by the enthusiasm of the children and the work that they have been producing. What superstars! A few parents have mentioned that accessing the online maths on ipads has proved bothersome, so please see the information below from our ICT technician:
Please find below our Achievers of the Fortnight. A HUGE well done to them all!

YEAR 4 LEARNING
In Geography, Year 4 have been learning about the water cycle. We made our own water cycle within a
plastic bag. We could see the water evaporating, condensing and precipitating. It was very interesting!
FABULOUS FINISH - PIRATE DAY
On Friday the 7th of December Year 4 are having a Pirate Day. Your child
can come to school dressed as a pirate on this day and parents are welcome
to come in from 2:30pm onwards to have a look at some of the amazing
work we have completed throughout the term.
YEAR 6 VISIT FROM AN EVACUEE
Last week , Year 6 were privileged to have a visit from a real World War II evacuee (Mrs.
Smith's mum). She told us many stories about when she was evacuated to Wiltshire and
the adventures she had on the farm whilst she was there. She made us all laugh when she
told us about hiding in a hollowed out tree and throwing pieces of bark at passers by and
playing in the nearby stream. On a more serious note, she also told us about the sound of the German
planes and how she had spent many nights in the Morrison Shelter with her mother and two brothers (it
was very cramped). We thoroughly enjoyed listening to her many experiences.
YEAR 1 LEARNING
Our topic is ‘Special Delivery’, as a part of our topic we have been learning about the history of
communication, including posting letters. We have been learning about how the first stamp
invented by Rowland Hill changed the postal system. Take a look at our pictures of the Penny Black
stamp.
PARKLAND PLANTING
The Parkland Federation won a bid to plant 105
trees and this week we invited families to come
and help us plant them. It was thoroughly enjoyed
by all! So far we have planted half and can’t wait
to see how they grow.
Our children have been learning about the
importance of trees and the part that they play in
our environment. We can’t wait to see them
grow!
PARENTPAY
As you are all aware, we are now a cashless school. If your child attends After
School Club or Breakfast Club please ensure your ParentPay account is always
topped up otherwise your child’s place in the club may not be secure. We still
require your booking forms in advance and will not accept over the phone
bookings.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR PANTOMIME TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGE TEAM
A huge round of applause goes to our Pantomime Technology Challenge Team who did an amazing
job of representing Parkland at a competition made up of 18 local schools. They were tasked with
creating a vehicle for Cinderella to get to The Ball in time and a multi purpose tool to help get her
chores done. What fabulous teamwork! We are very proud of you all!
