OUR PURPOSEAt Glen Iris, we desire to honor and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in all that we do. We endeavor to accomplish this by obeying His Word in the following areas: offering the sacrifice of praise, giving thanks to His name continually with the fruit of our lips, doing good and sharing our gifts and abilities, assembling together regularly for worship and instruction in righteousness, and encouraging one another unto love and good works. Our burden is to take the gospel to every creature, in the various ways made available to us. This, we believe, is accomplished by holding fast the faithful Word in teaching sound doctrine (Hebrews 13:15-17; Mark 16:15; Titus 1:9).

Welcome toWe want you to know that we have prayed for you and that we have asked the Lord to bring to our fellowship those to whom we can minister. We trust that you will feel welcomed, that you will be encouraged by worshiping with us, and that you will be a guest of ours again soon. If we can be of assistance to you, we would count it an honor. We desire to minister to you in any way possible. If any of us can be of help to you, please call the church office at 323-1516. Thank you for coming!

WEEKLY ACTIVITIES

SUNDAY SCHOOLSunday school is an important time, dedicated to delving into the Word of God to find all the treasures God has for us there. Our Sunday school teachers systematically teach through the Scriptures each week, line upon line, precept upon precept. There is a Bible class for each age group, and a list of all classes and their locations can be found in the church vestibule.

SUNDAY MORNING & EVENING SERVICESGod has mandated the preaching of the gospel (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47; John 20:21). Because we believe that a service should be designated for this purpose, we usually set aside Sunday morning for this important ministry. The teaching ministry of the shepherd is equally important for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry. Establishing believers in sound doctrine is best achieved by an expository

teaching ministry. Sunday evening is devoted to this purpose.

MIDWEEK SERVICEThe midweek service is always a refreshing time of Bible study and prayer. On Wednesday evenings at 7:00, line upon line our pastor teaches the truths found in God's Word. Please do not miss what the Lord has for you

at this important weekly meeting of our church.

We earnestly ask that every sincere worshiper will enter the auditorium in an attitude of reverence, silencing electronic devices, and as the prelude music begins, to prayerfully seek

the Lord's face and blessing.

Please join in the congregational singing, carefully considering what is being taught in the song and, above all, being concerned to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth.

“Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.”

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY CHRISTMAS STORE

Each year we have a special Christmas Store for the children of our church, and we want you to take part in this special time. We need donations of toys and items for our bus ministry and Sunday school children to "purchase." The children receive points for bringing visitors, memorizing Scripture, and doing other incentives. These points are converted to "debit cards" that they can use to purchase items from the store. Each year they always enjoy shopping in the store, and many of them use this time to buy gifts for their parents and siblings.

All kinds of items are needed. You may donate items, or you can give monetary gifts so that items can be bought for the store. Because we are running the store a week earlier than last year, we would ask that you donate or give as soon as possible so that the items can be accounted for and/or bought in a timely manner. Volunteers are needed to help in the store as well.

The store will be opened after the morning service on December 18. If you have any questions about these needs or would like to know more about how you can volunteer to help, please see or call Ron Haas (907-5118).

POINSETTIASIf you would like to designate one of the poinsettias that adorns our auditorium during December in memory of a loved one or in honor of someone else, please put this information on an offering envelope and

place it in the offering plate. The price for a poinsettia is $20.

SPECIAL ADULTS' CHRISTMAS BOXES

The ministry to our special needs adults is very dear to our hearts. These folks gather each Sunday in the school library, learn many songs and Scriptures, and enjoy their worship service to the fullest. Each year we have an opportunity to give to the "least of these" among us. Our members take shoe boxes that are individually assembled, pack them with a few of the items listed below, and then wrap them in pretty paper with nice bows. The items that they like are just like what you or I would like. Below is a list of the things they enjoy:

*Please designate whether the box is for a gentleman or a lady.

Before we pass out the gifts, we will feed them one of their favorite meals and then make a grand event of opening and showing off their gifts. You will enjoy seeing excerpts of this in our Stewardship DVD presentation in January. What a great opportunity we have to love and honor these who walk among us.

If you need additional information about the Christmas boxes, please see or call Josh Hayenga (936-9482).

We will distribute the boxes to these folks on December 11. Please place your prepared box under the Christmas tree in the church foyer.

CHRISTMAS DAY SERVICE

On Christmas Day, Sunday December 25, we will meet for worship at our regular Lord's Day Morning time at 11:00. We will not be meeting for Sunday School that morning and will not have an evening service.

Additionally, the buses will not run on that day.

PRAYER REQUESTS

The church staff men pray over all the needs of the ministry here, along with requests sent in to us. You may use the back of a visitor's card (found in the pew card holder) to make known your requests. Simply fill out the

card, and drop it into the offering plate as it is passed.

You are also invited to join us for the prayer meeting on Sunday mornings at 9:30 in the school library, and the Wednesday evening service and prayer

meeting at 7:00 in the church auditorium.
