Introduction

• John W.O. Lennon led a life full of excitement, anger, and peace all of which informed his poetry immensely. John Lennon had a happy childhood with his aunt and uncle. He had many troubles during his teenage years. John had great families that helped and supported him along his hard and sometimes stressful career. And his work still influences many of the rock groups, pop groups, and many poets.

Childhood• John Lennon was born on October 9, 1940. He was born at Liverpool

Maternity hospital, in Liverpool, England. His parents were Alfred “Freddie” Lennon, and Julia (Stanley) Lennon. His father wasn’t a very responsible dad. In fact, he wasn’t even present during his own son’s birth, or many of his birthdays. John’s father was a merchant seaman. His mother was a modern housewife, but she late became a waitress. His parents soon found out that they could not agree on anything, and they later got a divorce. “Julia thought that raising her child on her own would be a struggle”. So, her sister, Mimi smith took John and treated him as her own son. She fed him, bathed him, read him stories, and she loved him very much. John lived with Mimi and her husband, George Smith. They Lived at 251 Menlove Avenue Liverpool, England. Besides John’s great new family life, he did have some difficult times. His uncle died of Liver Cancer when John was twelve and, John was practically blind and he did not like to wear his glasses. Although, he did enjoy doing puzzles, word games, and he enjoyed to read. He really loved his beloved aunt, but sometimes he would send small notes to his Uncle George, saying things like “ Could you wash me tonight instead of Mimi”  “Dream well (good night)”. As a kid, John Lennon was very happy and safe living with his aunt and uncle, but he rarely saw his parents

Teenage Years•

John had a great childhood, but as he got older he became more and more stubborn. John got kicked out of a school for his very rude behavior.   He would also sometimes skip some of his classes. During John's teenage years something big and interesting went on, “Skiffle”. Skiffle was country music, rock 'n' roll music, pop, and instrumental music. Most of the boys in that time would be interested in these artists(many others too, but these were the most popular at that time period): Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, and most of all, Elvis. Many of John's teachers would complain about John's action and his attitude. He would be rude to teachers, skip some of his classes, and be loud in the halls. Also, John still would refuse to wear the glasses that he needed. Later in his teenage years he made a band called, The Quarry Men, it was named after the school that they attended , Quarry Bank High. Then after many concerts, it was then settled, John decided that he wanted to be a famous rock-pop artists. But his aunt Mimi, didn't agree/inspire with his dreams. In fact, she used to tell John, “The guitar is great John, But you'll never make a living from it!” The only one who was truly happy was his mother, Julia. Julia also enjoyed music and she, herself, even played the banjo. She would try to teach John and his school mates how to play.

Older Life•

Later in his life, John Lennon got married to two wonderful woman(not at the same side!). These woman were Cynthia Powell, and Yoko Ono. Since John's parents were away for most of his childhood, especially his father, John tried very hard to have family time. At first, he married a young woman named Cynthia Powell. They were married and they later had a son. They named their son after John's mother, Julian. Their marriage had to be a secret at first, because the manger of the band thought that the female fans would be upset if they knew John was married. John's second wife was a woman named Yoko Ono. They met each other when at Indica Gallery in London, owner John Durban introduced him to her in November 1966. One of Yoko's goals was global a.k.a. World Peace. As you can already tell by her name, Yoko Ono was from Japan. Many people think that it was her fault the band broke up, and they really do not like her. But in my opinion, if you really like, and consider yourself a Lennon Fan, you would respect John and His options, and Marrying Yoko was a big decision for him, and she really inspired him and his work. In fact,John respected her so much that he changed his middle name for her. But he technically CHANGE it, he just added a new one. So after he added it, his full name became “John Winston Ono Lennon(Stanley). Yoko and John had a son name Sean Taro Ono Lennon. John really enjoyed reading, writing, slot car racing and traveling.

Poetic Style• John influenced many artist today. John said that he enjoyed wild music. So, in a way, John enjoyed

poetry that made him want to get up and dance with the rhythm. Here are two different pieces of music that he wrote with The Beatles:“Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup    They slither while they pass, they slip away across, the Universe.”

• “Here come Ol' Flattop, he come groovin’ up slowly, he got joo-joo eyeball, he one holy roller, he got hair down..to his knee! Got to be a     joker, he just do what he please..shoot me... shoot me!”

• Here are two different pieces of music he wrote solo or with Yoko's band:    “Ev'rybody's talkin' 'bout bagism, madism, dragism, shagism, ragism  taggism. This-ism, that-ism, ism, ism, ism.. all we are saying is give peace a chance”    “Woman.. I can hardly express my mixed emotions at my thoughtlessness. After all, I'm forever in your debt. And woman , I will try to   express my inner feelings and  thankfulness, for showing me the meaning of success!”

• “Many people just see John as a crazy man, or as just another musician. But to a lot of other people, even artist, poets, and others he is an idol and they really like him.”They are inspired by his view of life, and the way he rebellion against war. Many people take time to look at his lyrics and try to understand what he was thinking when he wrote them. “His commercial success started an almost immediate wave of changes-including a shift from US global dominance of rock and roll to UK act(http://www.wikipedia.com/John_Lennon ) ” Other people get influenced to write music different than the kind we have today, just like John's music. John Liked to write Love sons, sad songs, random songs, and sons about how he sees the world.– He was VERY hard worker.

Cold turkey My Poem • Temperature's rising We love animals

Fever is high Furry or paleCan't see no future We love animals

Can't see no sky Ugly or male

• My feet are so heavy OH! Aren’t they just so cuteSo is my head Look at them sleep

I wish I was a baby Some can be adorableI wish I was dead Hush! Let’s hear them weep

• Cold turkey has got me on the run There’s fuzzy and ugly and orange

• My body is aching Some will be breathingGoose-pimple bone Some will be dead

Can't see no body Some will be weepingLeave me alone And some have big heads

• My eyes are wide open Why won’t animals talk Can't get to sleep Yet they still walk

One thing I'm sure of So many different typesI'm in at the deep freeze There’s fuzzy and ugly and orange

• Cold turkey has got me on the run There’s fuzzy and ugly and orange

• Cold turkey has got me on the run There’s fuzzy and ugly and orange

• Thirty-six hours Some will be breathingRolling in pain Some will be dead

Praying to someone some will be weepingFree me again And some have big heads!

• Oh I'll be a good boy Why won’t animals talkPlease make me well Yet they still walk

I promise you anything So many different typesGet me out of this hell They are so amazing

• Cold turkey has got me on the run There’s fuzzy and ugly and orange

Oh, oh, oh, oh And some have gill!!!!
