I am really pleased to introduce the newprogramme of activities and courses availablethrough The Lakes Adult Education Centre from2007 to 2008.
It is a really exciting time for the Centre as we moveinto a new venture. In recent years we havedeveloped our work in partnership with DallamTraining and Education Centre and to this we haveadded the impetus of achieving full Extended Servicerecognition from the DFES. This means that, thisyear, we are ready to organise the Centreindependently. We hope that this will let us really getinto the heart of our community and match it’slearning needs.
With this in mind the programme has been designedto cater for a wide range of people, ages andinterests. We hope you enjoy and succeed in yourlearning whether it is existing skills, developing newones or furthering your qualifications.
We are very keen to be working with our communityand value your views of the programme, so pleaselet us know ‘how it was for you’ . Remember thatfurther activities will also be offered later in the year.

RYA Yachtmaster – David BanksBy the end of the course the student will hold the RYAYachtmaster shorebased certificate and should be able toSkipper and navigate an unfamiliar boat in unfamiliar watersin testing weather by day or night. Beginners French – Roger Cleave This course is for complete beginners or for those who feel theywould benefit from “going back to basics”.
Beginners Tai Chi – Dee Swift This ancient form of exercise from China relieves stress andtension, promoting health and vitality. Suitable for men andwomen of all ages.
Body Tone - Libby DixonThe class consists of a mobilization, warm up and pre aerobicstretch, followed by aerobic routine. Then moving on to a rangeof endurance exercises and activities to help build yourstrength, body shape and muscle tone, completing with a well-earned stretch. These classes can be adapted to suit your ownindividual needs, you can work out at your own level.

FeesCourse fees quoted in this brochure comprise of thetuition fee, any resource fees will be as stated oninformation sheet. These charges are payable in full attime of enrolment.

September 2008Fee C 75% reduction for those students aged 16 and
under 19 (when course commences), those students receiving Job Seekers allowance,Income Support, Working Families Tax Credit,Pension Credit (subject to threshold),Housing/Council tax. benefit.
Proof of entitlement to all concessions must be providedat time of booking. Failure to do this will not guaranteeyou a place on the course.
