Isabelle RuenFashion Photographer Portrait
Isabelle grew up in Paris where she landed her first job at Chanel as a receptionist. After a couple of quick glimpses of Karl Lagerfeld’s photo sessions, her suspicion that she did not belong behind a desk was confirmed… After gradu-ating from the Sorbonne(University of Paris) a few years later, she moved to Los Angeles where she became a pho-tographer.
She will always feel like Paris is her homeand a tremendous a source of inspiration. However she has become a California girl as well, who not only loves the beach but also the immensity of the desert…. It shows in some of her imagery as she loves shooting on location, but she also likes the convenience of a studio where everything ismuch more controlled and therefore muchless stressful! She truly enjoys the luxury of having hoursto perfect a shot and try different things. Her photographic style very often reflects aduality, with something being slightly off orout of place in her images… For example, she loves water as a creative element andmodels get wet… as often as possible andpreferably with their clothes on!Her work has been published in magazinesworldwide and she has shot a number ofcelebrities such as Jane Lynch, Stephen Baldwin, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Wayne Brady and Leslie Easterbrook… She also photographed Tom Jones, The Beach Boys,Macy Gray and Chaka Khan in concert. Her resume also includes numerous por-trait, fashion and music assignments as well.

Natalie YaruStudent Designer Of The Year
A Lesson In Aviation‘Stratos Vail Intelligenta’
Natalie Yaru was chosen as our, ‘Designer Of The Year’ for delivering a collection that was inspired by aviation, family and her attention to detail.
‘Stratos Vail Intelligenta,’ the tribal concept Yaru crafted for her collection, was meant to honor her late grandfather, Nicholas Yaru. He was an aeronautical engineer and senior VP at Hughes Aircraft.
Yaru believed in honoring her grandfather not only for his monetary gift to her, one in which made it possible for Yaru to attend college, but for his gift to the aviation world. Yaru’s style of design is one where true patience is a virtue as this designer believes in crafting pieces slowly, paying close attention to every stitch, and embellishment—‘there are no limits’. ‘Stratos Vail Intelligenta’, is designed with a heavy hand. Yaru chose to focus on using a combination of leathers, selecting a variety of silk and wool blends. Her color palette admittedly was originally pulled for an, “all white collection” said, the designer, after which, Yaru decided to change her theme, opting to stay true to her roots and family.
“I watched The Aviator and shortly thereafter decided to design a collection inspired by aviation. I fell in love with a Belstaff jacket, that Leonardo DiCaprio wore in the film. I knew then, that I wanted my collection to be heavily infused with leather. I love working with material that can be molded and formed into different silhouettes. Structure and shape are what inspire me and I used that as a catalyst to derive my pieces for the collection.
” Yaru’s collection was crafted beautifully, where each piece could be easily worn from the runway to the street. Her color-palette although minimal, was the perfect choice opting for more muted colors; off-white, cream, and heather gray were a subtle touch that when blended with fabric and form, delivered a collection that stood out from all the others. We are confident that with a bit more time, Natalie Yaru will be much more than Designer Of The Year, she just might soon be, a household name.

NativeTongue, A Collection By
Amie Schow -Designer To Watch-
Recipient of ‘The Student Designer to Watch’ award, Amie Schow inspired us with her detailed design aesthetics and through her poise and composure as well. Her spirit, when we met with her, was both a vibrant and a charismatic one. It was that same spirit that we witnessed transferred to her collection, resulting in a very cohesive, loose interpreta-tion of the ‘Native American’ trend. Schow’s collection has stripped away the often heavi-ly stereotypical portrayal of American Indian culture and freed it of its oppressive and lit-eral translations. In its place she has set-free that culture, in a broader sense. Where oth-ers might have designed with a more literal hand, Schow’s hand—is one that has broken free of those restraints, designing outside of the stereotypical patterns more commonly used to define that culture. Native Tongue proves to be a collection that is very much inspired by the Native American culture, not defined by it—and it’s through Schow’s choice of color-palate and fabrication, that this translation is visible. The designer spoke candidly with us on set, as we are the first publication to showcase the work of this refreshingly new and very talented Los An-geles based designer. Her attention to detail and use of color are just two of the reasons why we believe she is the next, Designer to Watch.

When Jacob Busch steps into the frame, his first noticeable attribute is his confidence. It’s not exactly cockiness, but more of a sleek gentleman attitude that has served the 25-year-old well over the course of his career. Dressed in Salvatore Ferragamo, along with Gucci Shoes, and Rolex accessories, we sit on a warm summer day in mid-August at the Manor in California, laughing and discussing what it’s like to be a part of his extravagant life. Jacob, one of six children that will continue to live the family legacy of Anheuser Busch Brewing Association, sips on “Stoli” on the rocks, in his modern day Gatsby attire with a genuine smirk painted on his face.
Being the fashion enthusiasts that we are, we had to first get the juice on Busch’s stunning style. “I’m a Saks 5th Avenue kind of guy. Not only are their personal shoppers great, they treat you very well. It’s a very relaxing state of mind… as long as I have my vodka iced tea,” he laughs. His current obsessions include well-tailored suits and accessories designed by pre-eminent British designer, Paul Smith. Getting ready in the morning begins with choosing from an extensive collection
of personalized suits and garments. This will be complemented with a pair of sleek Gucci dress shoes and a Rolex time piece. “My dad gave me my first Rolex watch at 13 years old. Ever since then, Rolex is all I wear.”
Coming from a long line of self-motivated entrepreneurs, Jacob is more than just your cliché, proverbial overachiever. His latest venture includes being involved in an all-natural health beverage called Zenify, “It embraces the mind, body, and soul, which is what I live by,” he says. With the occasional modeling gig and juggling e-mails from various PR companies, Jacob’s desire at the end of his busy day is to simply make everybody happy. “I think everyone deserves a chance to be happy, and if I can go out of my way to make that happen, I will.”
With a business savvy persona and a charming personality, Jacob enjoys mingling and networking at cocktail events and social hot spots. “I’m definitely a people person. I love sparking conversations at these events, especially in L.A. You never know who you’re going to meet.” he says.

His ideal social setting is a Beverly Hills luxury hotel bar, such as The Polo Lounge, with a twist of a fine dine, Fig and Olive, atmosphere. “I’m not much into the club scene honestly. I go wherever my friends go, or wherever it’s happening,” he explains, “but I much rather attend a nice, elegant dinner or have a poker night with the guys.”
Other than residing at the Manor in California, and living the L.A. fast-life, Jacob likes to break away from the chaos by hanging out at his other estates located in Vero Beach, Florida and Whitefish, Montana. The variation in weather, hobbies, and his eclectic aesthetic in fashion, leads Busch to transition within fashion styles according to wherever he goes. When in Florida, he enjoys boating and playing tennis in country club styled Polo shirts, cotton-cashmere shawl pullovers, basic khakis, and sportswear jackets. When riding or exploring the wilderness in Montana, he carelessly throws on his vintage Cowboy boots, a pair of dark wash American-classic 7 Jeans, and a basic t-shirt.
“I love being out in nature in Montana and just staring out at the starlight. The stars out there are immaculate. They shine like diamonds”, he adds.
In between professional duties and top-of-the-class luxuries, ethical living is a lifestyle Jacob highly embraces. Being raised in the Busch Family means obtaining a passion that renders tangible amenities and extravagances to be completely meaningless. Jacob lives by many family traditions such as: “We are in the business of making friends” a favorite quote by his grandfather August Anhauser Busch.“My mom’s legacy has always been about God and family. The golden rule

is encouraging unity and peace within the family and to always stay true to oneself.” Jacob was raised to prioritize family, community, and genuine love, regardless of what life throws at him. Growing up in a family business, where he lives and breathes an “Our world Our responsibility” motto, has allowed Jacob to channel his humanitarian attributes and be a part of multiple charity projects. “One of my most favorite charities is the ‘Hole in the Wall Gang’ started by actor Paul Newman in Ashford, Connecticut”, he explains, “It’s one of the most amazing charities for children with eternally ill diseases. They go there and have the best time of their lives together, knowing that their life is going to be short.”
Other than being a huge humanitarian, Jacob and the rest of the Busch family are huge animal activists. His father started The Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter, Florida, where they rescue indigenous animals from the state of Florida that have been hurt or misplaced. There, they rehabilitate them and release them back into the wild. “We bring in anything from black bears to small rodents, even squirrels, because we believe every life deserves to be lived,” he says. If for any reason the animal cannot be rehabilitated, they have built a donation-based exhibit on the sanctuary land, where the public can visit and tour the site at no cost.
Although he resides in America, Jacob’s endless search for life inspiration reaches far outside the limits. He enjoys traveling to Europe and exploring different cultures and viewpoints with an open mind and zero judgment. “I

leave all personal feelings out of everything.
When I meet new people, no matter where I’m at, no matter what state, country or continent, I put my personal feelings aside and actually listen to them, because I am not always right. Nobody is.”
So what exactly is on Busch’s priority list for next decade? Getting married, having kids, owning a house, traveling, getting involved in new businesses ventures, and happiness is certainly on top of his to-do list. “As of now, I am single. But I am looking for a beautiful young lady who is very well rounded; family oriented and has good values,” he muses. “A good-hearted, giving girl who will travel the world with me.” Jacob, who considers himself an entrepreneur, pictures himself continuing to be involved in the beverage industry while always making a difference in communities and preserving the environment.
He also very much looks forward to the L.A. fashion scene along with upcoming red carpet events. “If I were to become a public figure, I know I would always stay true to myself.”
