Executive Summary
Pamela Paulk, Sr. Vice President of Johns Hopkins Medicine It is my pleasure to share with you the successes we have achieved on behalf of The Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation for FY14. A fiscal year (FY) is a period that a company uses for accounting purposes and preparing financial statements. The fiscal year may or may not be the same as a calendar year. Johns Hopkins uses the period of July 1st – June 30th. Therefore, FY14 would encompass July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2014. This report highlights data from The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation. Most people do not understand what we mean by the “Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation.” The Corporation is the hiring company that houses all employees from: Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, Johns Hopkins International, and Johns Hopkins Health Care. They also house all employees that work in Health Care Transformation & Strategic Planning, Community Division, Supply Chain, Marketing and Communications, Corporate Security, Facilities, Human Resources, HIPAA & Internal Audit, Legal, Management Systems & Informational Services, Operations Integration, Information Technology and Finance. Since 1889, the people of Johns Hopkins have worked together to improve the total health of our members and the communities we serve. I am very proud to be a part of this remarkable team. This FY14 report highlights our employee populations and reflects the hard work of our Human Resources team. I invite you to read our annual report for important statistics and descriptions, as well as a snapshot of the health of our organization.

A grievance is any alleged violation of the union contract, past practice, employer rules, previous grievance or arbitration settlements, or any violation of any laws, such as OSHA, ADA, FMLA, or EEOC regulations on race, age or sex discrimination.
A non-bargaining unit appeal is for JHH/JHHSC regular, non-contractual full-time and part-time employees. Johns Hopkins is dedicated to protecting the safety and security of its faculty, staff, employees, students, patients, and visitors. Everyone has a responsibility to behave professionally and foster a safe workplace and academic environment, whether you just started your
time at Johns Hopkins, have moved up to the ranks, or are in a leadership role. There is a range of disruptive behaviors such as inappropriate actions, disrespectful behavior targeted to another person, intimidation, bullying, stalking, and domestic or intimate partner violence that has entered the workplace. While not all disruption leads to workplace violence, these behaviors have been recognized as precipitants when looking back at an incident of workplace violence. The path towards violence is often progressive with cautionary signs along the way.
