Letter from the President
After a wet winter and early spring not much better, it is time once again to get going
for the new season.
You will see we are as active as ever in as much as we haveplanned a variety of events that will suit all tastes. The line up isfor touring in different parts of Ireland, a static show, a picnicrun, a maintenance day and our annual week end rally in July. Ihope that members will take their cars out and join in with us fora few pleasurable hours enjoying our cars in good company.
I learned with regret, the death in June 2013 of Anthony Stainer, a UK based member of10 year standing with our Club. Tony and Veronica visited our shores on the occasion ofour 2005 International Rally. Holy Mass has been offered for the repose of his soul.May he rest in peace.
As always, I ask that members prepare their cars in good standing for the comingseason. Clearly the numerous outings and the visibility of our vehicles on the roads andat shows, heightens awareness and promotes the desirability of T ownership. It is hardto imagine a goodly number of our cars are over one hundred years old with aconsiderable number of 1915 vehicles reaching their centenary next year.
Joan and I look forward to meeting you all during the 2014 season.
Kind regards
MICHAEL RIGNEYPresident12

Hi.I was wondering if you know anyone I might speak to about hiring a Model T for awedding on 4
thSeptember? I would love an authentic Model T Ford (rather than the
imitations you usually find on wedding car sites!) and it is very difficult to find one! Thedistance between house, church and hotel is short, so it would be an ideal chance toexperience one of these wonderful cars. If you can help me at all I would be soappreciative. I am based in Clane, in Co.Kildare; the wedding and reception is within 10minutes of my home. Any contacts that you can give me would be greatly appreciated!Anne-Marie [email protected]
stDec-2013
MEMBERSIf anyone in the general area of Clane would kindly help out the “Bride to be”, it wouldbe appreciated. Anne-Marie is really interested in having a Model T for her big day. Sheunderstands that the date she picked might not work out but I would hope thatsomeone would volunteer and save the day for her. Editor

Grand Marshal. I am really proud of Cork.” The chauffeur for the day was none otherthan our President Michael Rigney who did the honours for us. What a proud day forour Club.

2014 Spring Rally - Adare.
The first run of the Irish Model T Ford Club took place on Easter Sunday 20 April 2014.
It was great to meet up again after a long wet winter and we caught up with news offellow members over tea, coffee and buns. This runwas hosted as usual, by David and Marian Cuddyably assisted by family members and a team of mostefficient stewards who directed us on our waythrough the leafy roads of Co Limerick.
Our first stop was at the Old Irish Ways Museum
The Irish T. Times Spring 2014

near Meanus wherewe were treated tomore refreshmentsbefore we went backin time to an Ireland ofyore. The collection ofmemorabilia on showhere is fascinating andbrought backmemories to most ofus. We saw an oldclassroom completewith desks and booksetc from bygone days. The kitchen with all
the old utensils and gadgets, including an ingenious one for peeling and coring apples(and another for washing newly laid eggs ) had us all fascinated. The old shop stockedwith goods from years gone by was set next to an old pub stocked with every beverageknown to man!! We all assembled in front of the museum for a group photo in brilliantsunshine before cranking up and going on our merry way through Athlacca to our nextstop outside Bruree to visit De Valera's cottage. This is a beautifully preserved piece ofIrish history being the place where DeValera spent his childhood with his grandmotherand aunt while attending school in Bruree. We resumed our tour and travelled throughsome lovely countryside with Spring unfolding all around us. Trees were pushing littlegreen shoots, baby lambs in the fields and primroses were in abundance along theroadsides as we drove enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. It was wonderful. We arrived at the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare for a late lunchwhich was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Time then to reload our Ts and head for homeafter a truly great start to our year. A big thank you to David, Marian and family. A
