Watch the video Think about how the shot in the science-fiction video was different from shots youve received at the doctors office. Turn to a partner and talk about the differences between the shot in the video and the shots youve received. Share an experience with your partner about getting a shot.

Think-Pair-ShareThink about how shots may have changed over time. A long time ago, shots may have been different then how they are. They might look different or even feel different. Turn to a NEW partner and talk about how shots may change in the FUTURE. How do you think they might change? What might be different about the shots in the future? Lets make a list of some of the ways doctors use shots. Some shots prevent sicknesses and help build an immunity to the sickness before it happens- like the flu, measles, chicken pox, whooping cough.Some shots inject medicine for pain relief, or control of pain (steroids, morphine, etc.)Some shots are used to change the way people look (Botox, collagen)Some shots keep us healthy (insulin, allergy shots, etc.)Can you think of any other uses?
