Networking…How to get started?
Google companies you would like to work for – find people of influence there and find out what organizations they’re involved in.
Be able to articulate who you are, why you are there and what you’re looking for in a short succinct one-minute pitch. Walk up to people and introduce yourself.
The bigger your network and the more diverse = greater opportunities
Remove the “What’s in it for me?” and look at is as an opportunity to meet new people.
Be yourself!
Never take more than you give and always follow-up with people you meet via e-mail.
You should begin to network in your field of study/industry while you’re still in school. Continue to network – not just when you need a job. It’s an ongoing process.
