Scientists are currently predicting that several scenarios may occur. One, sea levels will continue to rise as polar ice caps melt. Two, tropical storms will increase in frequency and intensity. Three, changes in weather may eventually give way to shifting climates. These physical symptoms of global warming can have major impacts on human populations. As sea level rises, people living in areas of low elevation, such as Bangladesh, are vulnerable to saltwater intrusion and land loss. Additionally, due to intensification of storms, property damage and loss of life can be expected to increase. Populations are subject to effects brought on by shifts in climate. For example, areas suitable for agriculture may experience climate change which will, in turn, have impacts on the location of agriculturally-based communities.
