40-28 win in their season debut on

November 30.The Eagles jumped out to an early

10-5 advantage, and grew the lead to

17-8 at the intermission. MVCD rallied

with a 12-6 third period to cut their

Evergreen Rallies To Deal N. CentralA 51-46 Overtime Heartbreaker

PIONEER - The North Central Eagles

came into the 2013-14 season without

their 1,000-point gun in Jalen Dancer,

and with a much bigger Evergreen

Vikings squad invading the Eagles Nest

on November 30. With their recently

graduated four-year floor leader in civ-

vies as a spectator, the floor general

duties fell upon senior Branden Turner.

    Under Turners first command, the

    Eagles went from being outmuscled

early, to being a major pain to the

Vikings in the second half. The Eagles

    erased a double-digit deficit, but a late

rally saved the Vikings. With the game

going into overtime, the visitors finallyescaped with a 51-46 win.

Trailing by double digits in the third

    period, North Central changed strate-

gies, ramping up their perimeter speed

    and harassing the Evergreen guards

into turnovers. The speed proved to be

equally potent on the half court offense

of the Eagles as quick passes gave open

views to Turner, Clayton Ferguson and

Dylan Hutchison, all of which rained

down threes that saw the Evergreen

lead dwindle to zero. By the end of the

third, the Vikings were frustrated giants

swatting at flies, and the hometown

    boys were up by three.

Evergreen was able to tie the game in

the fourth, but they were unable to put

away the Eagles. North Central retook a

three-point lead late in the period, but

they turned the ball over while trying to

kill the clock. The Vikings would use the

gaffe to tie the game and send it into

overtime, where they would pull away

for the eventual win.Ferguson finished with 18 points for

North Central, while Turner had 13.

Hutchison and Chase Legacy each had

6 points, and Josh Sawyer had 3.

Fayette Lady Eagles Use Huge ThirdPeriod Run To Demolish Liberty Center

FAYETTE - The numbers dont lie.

The Fayette Lady Eagles got off 61 shots

against Liberty Center on November 23.

One tends to get extra shot opportuni-

ties when ones team forces 21 turnovers

while allowing only four. Those shots

were dropping hard and fast on the

Lady Tigers, too fast for them to keeppace.

Trailing 31-23 at the half, Liberty

Center was greeted by a 14-1 barrage in
