Taken from the website of The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops The Importance of Eucharistic Adoration The importance of Eucharistic Adoration is shown in the fact that the Church has a ritual that regulates it: the Rite of Eucharistic Exposition and Benediction. This is an extension of the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament which occurs in every Mass: "Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb." Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament flows from the sacrifice of the Mass and serves to deepen our hunger for Communion with Christ and the rest of the Church. The Rite concludes with the ordained minister blessing the faithful with the Blessed Sacrament. Some important prayers that are used during this rite include the Anima Christi and the Tantum Ergo. www.usccb.org St. Anthony of Padua is now on Twitter. Prayer to Saints Anne and Joachim, Parents of Our Lady Good Saint Ann and Saint Joachim, parents of Mary and grandparents to Jesus, be with me and all grandparents that we may be wise and loving, may share our time and stories and sense of humor, and may enjoy and not spoil too much the grandchildren who are close to our hearts, for they are the sign of God's life to us. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, be with our grandchildren and all other grandchildren that they may love and respect their grandparents and all older people, may remember to call, visit or write, and grow in wisdom, age and grace before God. Amen.

The Holy Spirit brings life and peace.
Today we hear about God as a Father who is both merciful and just, about God who is mighty, and about the Spirit who comes to our aid. Let us turn to the life-giving Holy Spirit for guidance and grace so we may continue growing in holiness, so we bear an effective witness to the Gospel, and so we may experience Christ’s gift of peace more fully in our lives and hearts.
In the Book of Wisdom, we hear that God is both mighty and lenient. The second reading reminds us that the Spirit helps us in our weakness, and inter-cedes for us according to God’s will. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches about God’s kingdom, and offers parables of grain and weeds to explain it.
XVI Domingo Ordinario ~ 23 de Julio de 2017 ~ 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Catechism of the Catholic Church Paragraph 691
"Holy Spirit" is the proper name of the one whom we adore and
glorify with the Father and the Son. The Church has received this
name from the Lord and professes it in the Baptism of her new
children. The term "Spirit" translates the Hebrew word ruah, which,
in its primary sense, means breath, air, wind. Jesus indeed uses the
sensory image of the wind to suggest to Nicodemus the transcendent
newness of him who is personally God's breath, the divine Spirit. On
the other hand, "Spirit" and "Holy" are divine attributes common to
the three divine persons. By joining the two terms, Scripture, liturgy,
and theological language designate the inexpressible person of the
Holy Spirit, without any possible equivocation with other uses of the
terms "spirit" and "holy."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nicodemus said to him, “How can a person once grown old be born
again? Surely he cannot reenter his mother’s womb and be born
again, can he?” Jesus answered, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one
can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.
What is born of flesh is flesh and what is born of spirit is spirit. Do
not be amazed that I told you, ‘You must be born from above.’
Prayer for Priests
Dear Lord,
We pray that the
Blessed Mother will
wrap her mantle of
protection around
Your priests and
through her interces-
sion may they be
strengthened in their
ministry.
We pray that Mary
will guide Your priests,
dear Lord, to follow
her own words, “Do
whatever He tells you”.
May Your priests have
the heart of St. Joseph,
Mary’s most chaste
spouse. May the
Blessed Mother’s own
pierced heart inspire
them to embrace all
who suffer at the foot
of the holy cross for the
love of God the Father.
May Your priests be
Holy, as you are holy,
And through the power
of the Holy Spirit,
may they be filled with
the fire of Your love
seeking nothing but
Your greater glory
and the salvation of
souls. Amen!
St. John Vianney,
