Timeline…1609

The first Baptist denomination church was in 1609. My family is very religious, we depend heavily on motivation from the bible and other religious tools.

1619

1st slave arrived in Virginia in 1619. My father’s side of the family is African-American and were former slaves, so this event really explains how the African-American side of the family came to America.

1838

The Trail of Tears is a name given to the forced relocation and movement of Native American nations from southeastern parts of the United States following the Indian Removal Act of 1830. The removal included many members of the Cherokee, Muscogee, Seminole, Chickasaw, and Choctaw nations. This effects me changing the location of my nana’s family in the United States.

Timeline…1877

As early as 1877, Princeton University was known to have a "Princeton Cheer Team", documented in the February 22, 1877, March 12, 1880, and November 4, 1881, issues of the Daily Princetonian. I have cheered since the age of 3 and this has really affected my life.

1954

Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, (1954), was a landmark decision of the United States Supreme Court that declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students unconstitutional. This is an important event in that it would effect the learning environment of part of my family and later myself.

July 19–20, 1848

The Seneca Falls Convention was an early and influential women's rights convention held in Seneca Falls, New York. It is important to the history of my life considering I am a woman my self…

Timeline…1964

The Great Society was a set of domestic programs in the United States promoted by President Lyndon B. Johnson and fellow Democrats in Congress in the 1960s. Two main goals of the Great Society social reforms were the elimination of poverty and racial injustice. New major spending programs that addressed education, medical care, urban problems, and transportation were launched during this period . This is significant to my life because it brought many reforms to my family including the war on poverty and equality.

1964The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a landmark piece of legislation in the United States that outlawed major forms of discrimination against African Americans and women, including racial segregation. It ended unequal application of voter registration requirements and racial segregation in schools, at the workplace and by facilities that served the general public. This Act would forever effect the limits and equality for my African-American side.

1990-Present

The history of the Internet began with the development of computers in the 1950s along with Packet switched networks. The ARPANET in particular led to the development of protocols for internetworking, where multiple separate networks could be joined together into a network of networks. This is significant to my life because it is where I spend most of my time! And would be completely lost without it.

1996

I was born…
