THE HISTORY OF KENWORTH: BUSES, TRUCKS &‘BRUCKS’
IT ALL STARTED WITH BUSESEven though Kenworth is mainly associated with trucking, the company spent a lot time between the 1920s and 1950s making and selling buses. In fact, their first ever full-chassis vehicles were school buses.

DURING & AFTER WORLD WAR TWOHowever, when the Second World War hit, Kenworth, like many other industries, took a bit of a hit. When the war finally came to an end, the company put its energies into releasing a few new lines of buses. Two of the most renowned models were the K and W.

THE GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY PUTS IN AN ORDERIn the late 1940s, the Great Northern Railway turned to Kenworth for help. They needed a workhorse that could function as truck, yet carry a bunch of people at the same time.
