The first and most exciting is that I took class, two in fact, from our national treasure, Jo Sonja Jansen, at the Creative Painting convention in Las Vegas. She was amazing, awesome, and inspiring. She started out with, “My precious ones… you are artists.” I think that’s something that we need to remind ourselves of every once in a while. How can you not listen to someone who says, “Listen to mom just a minute, sweet ones”? She also referred to us as “lump lumps,” “dear ones,” and “my precious lump lumps.” Her face drawing/painting tips that I want to share are these: The face is five eyes wide. The end of your nose is the size of one eye. You change the location for the horizontal plane for a child, but the face is still five eyes wide. Run with that, and re- member that you are artists! I bounced from the excitement of taking class with Jo Sonja to trying really, really hard NOT to spill the beans about our MPI teacher! In case you have been hid- ing under a rock and did not hear, our teacher was Karen Brower, from down under! We did an adorable piece with owls, that included bits of her trademark mother of pearl; so cute and fuzzy. We enjoyed her friendship, sense of humor, accent, and relaxed teaching style. She also reassured us off the microphone that she does not eat crocodile or kangaroo. Thank you, Karen Brower, for a wonderful class. Please come back and paint with us again in the future. Please also help me extend great big thanks to Jeanne Robert and her committee for creating such a wonderful event for us. The food, raffles, room decorations, goodie bags, theme, atmosphere, and name pins created an incredible experience for all who attend- ed. Those same expressions of gratitude also extend to Alice and Irene, painters who are not chapter members, yet helped out so much behind the scenes with MPI. April 11, 2015 Papaveri Toscana (Sandy Garcia) May 9, 2015 Garden Trowel & Wren (Ramona Jacobs) June 13, 2015 Butterflies with Flowers (Donna Carpenter) The new project calendar is out. Look ahead and sign up for the wonderful projects and teachers that we have lined up for you. Don’t forget to look at the supply listings and plan ahead. You might need to share in a group order, check with Donna Carpenter’s shop, or do some hunting to find the paints and materials for the pieces. That’s all for now. Welcome spring! Hap- py Easter! See you soon. Your President, Charlotte
