What a glorious day! God, the author of life has conquered death – no fools, no joke. The tomb is empty. Our Lord has appeared to Mary Magdalene, and to Simon Peter. The blessed hope of life after death dawns upon us. God, the Great Healer wants to make all things new. Congratulations to those who were made new through baptism at the Easter Vigil. Born of water and the Holy Spirit, they received the Sacraments of Initiation – baptism, confirmation, and Holy Communion.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the liturgy directors, the musicians, the coordinator of RCIA, the sponsors of our newly baptized, and the liturgical ministers who helped us mark these special days.
Next Sunday is the Feast of Divine Mercy. What a gift! What a grace! The Lord comes to us in our need. He comes with his gift of forgiveness. He comes to us in our times of doubt. He has opened his Sacred Heart to us to find refreshment in Him. Consider celebrating Divine Mercy with Queen of Peace parish at 2pm. They have a community dinner to follow. I will be at Queen of Peace that afternoon assisting with confessions for those who are there to receive the plenary indulgence for the Day of Mercy.
Looking ahead in the month of April, our young students will be receiving Holy Communion for the first time on April 22 (St. Peter), April 29 (St. Joseph), and May 5-6 (St. Julie).
Also on Sunday, April 22, the Butler Philharmonic symphony and chorale will perform a setting of Mass composed by Mozart. The concert begins at 4pm at St. Joseph Church. What a grand delight as part of the church’s 150th year of faith.
God’s blessing and protection to the students and families on Spring break.
Happy Easter!

Amen.
