The new deal summary

Hoover doesn’t feel the gov’t should help out.

Fdr (Franklin Delano Roosevelt) is easily elected in 1932.

During the 100 days, fdr helps banks (Bank holiday).

Fdr’s new deal is his plan to get us out of the depression

(relief, recovery, reform / abc organizations).

People always disagree--Some feel the new deal gives too much

power to gov’t & some think it doesn’t do enough.

The Supreme Court declares the nira & the aaa

unconstitutional.

Fdr decides to “pack the court” so the justices support him—

doesn’t work.

Overall, the new deal is successful, but the us isn’t out of the

Depression until we join WW2 (1941).

FDR’s New Deal

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself!”

“What the country needs is bold experimentation!”

The New Deal aimed at providing RELIEF, RECOVERY & REFORM.

It was FDR’s plan to end the Great Depression.
