ALL THE STUFF

• The gold rush helped California’s economy. Ranches, stores, farms, restaurants and other stuff grew to serve gold miners

• At the end, many mining towns became ghost towns because all the miners left for Nevada, but by the time they left, California had a great economy from industry and farming

• The California state motto changed to “Eureka!” (I have found it)

• A lot of people moved there because It was seen as a place of new beginnings

• Population went from 14,000 to 260,000 people. (That’s a lot)

• A lot of sickness and disorder

• What happened during the end of the Gold Rush period? A lot of people moved there

• What was the life like towards the end? Not too pleasant- a lot of sickness and disorder and not a lot of places to live because of the sudden increase in population

• Why was the Gold Rush such an important part of California history? – I is what got the state as a place of new beginnings

• What was the impact of the Gold Rush for California? – Same as the last answer.
