    Alfred Hitchcock did not simply emerge fromthe cinematic ether a fully-formed filmmakerto create classics like Rear Window (1954).By then, hed been directing pictures in Europeand the U.S. for nearly thirty years. Learnabout some of the directors better knownBritish work, such as The Lady Vanishes(1938), as well as his initial forays intoHollywood, including his very first (and nearlyhis last) American film, Rebecca (1940). Theseearly pictures contain some of the elementsfor which Hitch would later become famous.
