THE GEOLOGIC TIME SCALEBy: Michael Gallinghouse

Page 2: The geologic time scale 1

THE GEOLOGIC TIME SCALE IS A SCALE WHICH SHOWS ALL THE ERAS AND PERIODS OF TIME.

Page 3: The geologic time scale 1

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO MOVE THROUGH SOME OF THE PERIODS OF TIME? I’D LIKE TO. LET’S GO! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Let’s go

THE BEGINNING

Long before the creation of anything there was only darkness.

The Big Bang started out to be a big collection of energy. Then it blew up and created entire galaxies with the

energy force that has been in that orb for so long That was only the start of the Geologic time scale. Now

I’m going to take you to the Mesozoic, the Jurassic period to be exact.

Page 5: The geologic time scale 1

THE JURASSIC PERIOD The Jurassic period is in the Era of the Mesozoic. Dinosaurs such as The T-Rex, Velociraptor, and

Spinosaurus all are predators of the Jurassic period Velociraptor’s started to grow feathers close to the end of

the Jurassic. A meteor wiped out all the dinosaurs, and mammals

began to take over.

DEATH OF THE DINOSAURS

The Dinosaurs had walked the Earth for many years and left mammals to remain small and weak until that fateful day of the meteor.

Towards the end of the Jurassic period, a meteorite hit Earth with great force and blew a cloud of dust and debris into the atmosphere.

This cloud caused all the plants to die because it blocked sunlight. The dead plants caused all the Herbivores to die because they

didn’t have any food to eat. The carnivores died because there was no more Herbivores to eat. The rise of the mammals has begun.

TAKEOVER OF THE MAMMALS

After the death of the dinosaurs, mammals had a lot more free space to evolve and grow into one huge population of species.

Monkeys began to evolve into apes, which are the less evolved forms of humans. Once they started to walk like normal human beings, they were said to evolve into the first humans ever to walk the Earth.

Page 8: The geologic time scale 1

HUMANS BECOME THE DOMINANT SPECIES!

The first people ever to walk the Earth were called Caveman.

When humans first started to walk the Earth, they couldn’t communicate, couldn’t hunt, they didn’t even know how to draw yet.

But then evolution started to take place again and it evolved human brains and made them smarter and they figured out how to hunt and communicate and draw cave drawling's.

HUMANS BEGIN TO BUILD CIVILIZATIONS

When humans became smarter, they knew what they had to do in order to survive. They began to build villages to keep shelter from harsh weather.

When humans became stronger and more intelligent, they built bigger and more advanced cities.

Human intelligence has evolved to the point that we’re able to explore our universe, and we are even planning a manned mission to Mars.

QUESTIONS

What Era and period did the dinosaurs live? What began the extinction of the dinosaurs? How did humans become smart enough to build

civilizations? Important: What is the Geologic time scale?

THE END, OR IS IT JUST THE BEGINNING?
