LOCATION OF GALLARTA.

o Abanto-Zierbena is the name of our municipality.

o It belongs to the province of Biscay, in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country.

At present, ABANTO-ZIERBENA is administratively divided into neighbourhoods or wards. One of them is GALLARTA, where our Dolores Ibarruri high school is located.

Currently, our mayor is Maite Etxebarria Azpiolea.

NEAR GALLARTA…

Near Gallarta, there is a mountain called Serantes. It is 451metres high. The top of the mountain is located in a nearby town called Santurtzi, on the left side of Bilbao estuary.

Serantes is surrounded by an important industrial and mining area

THE BEACH

This beach is called “Playa la Arena”. It is 966 metres long and part of it belongs to Abanto Zierbena and the other to Muskiz.

When the tide is low, it has 343,382 square metres surface.When the tide is high, it has 86,382 square metres surface.
