year, winning the Western Maine

Conference championship, as well as the Mt. Abrams Friday Night Lights series. The Rangers are

Beach to Beacon training group registration open

Registration for the Maine Running Company’s Beach to Beacon training group and the Maine Running Academy is open through March 10. Orientation will be held for beginners Tuesday, March 8 at 6 p.m. and for anyone who complete a 5K Thursday, March 10 at 6 p.m., at the Maine Running Company on Forest Avenue in Portland. Running program upcoming

The Nor’Easter run training and racing program, under the direction of Maine Run-ning Hall of Famer and current Waynflete School track coach Brian “Ziggy” Gillespie

begins March and runs through Aug. 31. The program is open to male and female runners of any level of ability. Teams work-outs are Wednesday evenings at World’s Gym, 265 Marginal Way, in Portland. FMI, [email protected].

Yarmouth coaching openings

The Yarmouth school system is seeking spring coaches for seventh grade softball, eighth grade boys’ lacrosse, first team boys’ lacrosse and first team girls’ lacrosse. In the fall, there are openings for junior varsity golf and middle school field hockey. FMI, [email protected].

ciation is seeking new officials. Anyone interested should attend an overview and training sessions Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at North Yarmouth Academy’s Middle School. FMI, 650-7464 or mainelaxofficials.org.

Cumberland/North Yarmouth lacrosse registration

Registration for boys’ and girls’ youth la-crosse programs for Cumberland and North Yarmouth children in grades 3 through 6 will be held March 2 at 6:30 p.m., at the Greely Middle School’s cafeteria. Dead-line for registration is April 1. Coaches are needed at the 3-4 and girls’ and 5-6 boys’ grade level. FMI, [email protected] or [email protected].

Falmouth Little League registration open

Player registration for the 2011 season of the Falmouth Little League is open, through Monday. New players must present a birth certificate for age verification. Registration can be done at falmouthlittleleague.net. Player evaluations will be held on March 13 for softball and March 15 and 16 for base-ball. FMI, 838-4424 or [email protected].

Cumberland/North Yarmouth LL registration open

Registration for Cumberland/North Yar-mouth’s 2011 Little League season is open and can only be done online via credit card at cnyll.com. You’ll receive an early bird discount by registering prior to Monday. Coaches are needed for all levels. FMI, cnyll.com.

Yarmouth Little League registration upcoming

Registration for Yarmouth’s Little League 2011 season will be held March 3 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Harrison Middle School’s cafeteria. The cost is $85 for farm league and $95 for baseball or softball. A birth certificate is required, unless presented last year. FMI, yarmouthlittleleague.com.
