MESSAGE FROM PASTOR COX
18 days, 2000 miles, and 5 states. The recent vacation / confer-ence trip that Chris, Evelyn and I went on took us many places. We were able to spend time with family and time with other believers, time with friends and meeting many new people.
The longer we stayed away, the more I noticed that Evelyn would look around her with a confused look on her face. The same look appeared from time to time as she was held by family and friends she was meeting for the first time. It did not matter that she was in a beautiful place, or with someone who cared about her, she was looking for familiar places and familiar faces in order to feel comfortable and safe.
The same can be true for us when we find ourselves miss-ing church and fellow believers from our community of faith. We gather to worship the Lord, but we also receive the support and encouragement of others when we come together. We are known by name, our joys and concerns are important to those around us, we are truly with brothers and sisters in the faith.
No matter where we are and who we are with, there is something missing when we do not come together regularly. This is why we encourage members and friends to attend worship whenever possible, and why we have ministries if visitation - to remind those that cannot attend that they are still connected to their church family.
Know that when you are absent, you are missed. And even if it has been a long time, you are still thought of and loved. This is your home, we are your family, and we are strongest, most peace-ful, and most challenged to grow and to be restored when we are together. I look forward to seeing you soon!
Thank you to all of those who attended one of the initial listening meetings with the Resolution Team. It was very important to hear all of the thoughts and opinions of members in this initial phase of listening and re-sponding. The next set of meetings will be a time when the Resolution Team comes back to the congregation to share what they heard from the meetings – what are the common concerns, what are the strengths and hopes of the congregation, and what are the difficulties. They will also be sharing information and inviting discussion about actions of the General Assembly in regards to divestment and the definition of marriage to allow for further comment and clarification on those issues.
Those meetings will be Wednesday, August 19th and Sunday, August 23rd. If additional meetings are needed so that all may attend, we will work on scheduling them for the end of August and beginning of Septem-ber.
As with the first set of listening meetings, if you need a ride in order to attend, please let the church office know so that we can arrange someone to take you to a meeting. Also, if you are not able to attend, we invite you to send a letter to the church that can be shared with the Resolution Team about your questions and concerns. You can also come in to talk with Pas-tor Debra at any time about your thoughts on this process or your personal concerns.

New Group to Use Church Facilities
Session approved a support group for Pulmonary Hypertension to begin using the building on a 3-month trial basis.
“Our mission is to find ways to prevent and cure pulmonary hypertension (PH), and to provide hope for the pulmonary hypertension community through sup-port, education, research, advocacy and awareness. Our vision is to improve the lives of all those affected by pulmonary hypertension.”
They are raising PH Awareness in our community. This is essential as our dis-ease is so often misdiagnosed for years as common ailments such as asthma, COPD, sleep apnea, etc. Time is so important when talking about the diagno-sis of PH. While it can’t be cured, if caught early enough, some of the treat-ments can possibly slow down the progression of the disease and increase a patient’s quality of life
They will meet the 2nd Saturday of each month beginning August 8th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are looking for groups of 10—15 people.
Coffee, juice and snack(s) will be served.

HELP NEEDED!
We need some volunteers who would be interested in running the computer to use the monitors in the sanc-tuary each week. There is a sign-up sheet on the bul-letin board.
Please contact John Yust at 321.727.0979 if you have any questions.
CHILDREN’S MESSAGE VOLUNTEERS:
We are still looking for volunteers to help with a weekly Children’s Message
each week in worship – there is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board by the kitchen.
SENIOR CITIZEN DAY IN THE U.S.
Did you know this is observed on August 21? Let the Seniors know they are appreciated for their wisdom and their gifts!

FLOWER BED WORK DAY
If you have looked recently, you may have
noticed that the flower bed just west of
the office has become a jungle.
In fact, there have been reports of people entering the flower bed and
never being heard from again!
Well, it’s time to clean it up. We will have a work day on Saturday, August
8th at 8:00 a.m. just to work on this. We will remove all invasive plants
(palmettos, vines) and thin and prune the good stuff. We will be in the
shade, so the heat should not be a big problem.
A volunteer to provide cold drinks and snacks would be greatly appreciat-
ed. Please let the office know if you can help in this endeavor!
CHURCH OFFICER NOMINATION
A form is enclosed for you to endorse/nominate someone to either the
Office of Elder, Deacon, or for the Nominating Committee. When complet-
ed, please return to the Church Office no later than Sunday, August 24th.
