PfI works on Agroforestry: “Everybody Can Grow Trees and Earn”

>EVERYBODY => Smallholders, Men, Women, Youth, Pastoralists, Urban people, Companies

>CAN GROW TREES => each group, has opportunities to care for trees

>AND EARN => People as an individual should benefit from growing trees

Page 3: The farm treetool partners for innovation 2015

Everybody can grow trees and earn

• ALL work for home consumption + markets• As a general rule: More People, More Trees

Women prefer Agroforestry-Horticulture Gardens

Men, Youth prefer wood lots, live fences

Pastoralists prefer systems with-animals

Page 4: The farm treetool partners for innovation 2015

For example: Mali – Farmers manage Agroforestry Gardens. BUT have weak market linkages, and no credit options; so gardens are static

Page 5: The farm treetool partners for innovation 2015

Some farmers manage to develop their Agroforestry gardens into vibrant enterprises

Subsistence Make money More money
