WHO’S BEHIND THE KITCHEN
DOOR?
What’s next after knowing the
sources of food? Preparing them! The
class had a visit to the man behind the
kitchen door, Mang Estoy! He’s the chef
of CDC who prepares all the yummy,
healthy snacks for the everyone! He
taught the children how to make cinna-
mon rolls. Making cinnamoin roils did not
look so easy but they’re indeed very
delicious! Now, the children know that
food are prepared behind kitchen doors
to ensuretheir safety and cleanliness.
Maybe next time, let the children help
in preparing food for the family!
The 4’s class helped in
hunting for the laid eggs.
It was surely a fun way to learn about
the animals as source of food! How does smooth and rough food
feel like? Can I feel it just with my hand?
Or can I also feel it when I eat? The 4’s
class explored the textures of smooth
and rough when it comes to food. They
had maja blanca and gulaman for smooth
and biko and uraro for rough. First they
felt the two textures with their hand and
next they tried feeling the texture as
they tasted and ate the different food.
They also unlocked the words makinis and
magaspang! Smooth feels way better than
rough but all the food did taste good!
S&R: Smooth and Rough
Food can come from dif-
ferent sources. Some
people like food coming
from plants because they
are very healthy and fresh while oth-
ers like food coming from animals be-
cause they’re very tasty! Food coming
from both plants and animals are well
prepared in the kitchen to remove its
dirt and make them even tastier! The
4’s class had their own experiences in
discovering where food can come from.
WHERE DO
FOODS COME
FROM?
FOOD
FROM PLANTS!
Did you know what food as well
as drink s can come from plants!? Yes
they can! And there’s a juice that can
actually come from kamote leaves! The
4’s class had an experiment in making a
juice called, “Magic Juice”. It is called
as such because from a color of dark
green, it turned into light pink upon
addition of calamansi. Who would’ve
thought that kamote leaves can be
turned into such amazing magic juice?
Everyone loved its taste! Not oo sweet
but still very tasty!
FOOD FROM ANIMALS!
The Fantastic 4’s
Animals are probably the
most popular source of food. Kids, as
well as adults just love meat! Even the
4’s class love animals like pig and cow.
They learned that pork and beef are
the correct terms for meat coming
these animals. They also found out
where their favourite pork and beef
dishes are found in the bodies of
these animals. They even solved a puz-
zle to be more familiar about pigs and
cows. But wait! Apart from cow and
beef, food also comes from chickens!
And an enormous chicken laid its eggs
in the playground!

Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao
Sa mga pagkaing aming tinikman!
Ilocos, Baguio, Cebu, Negros Oriental,
Davao at Bukidnon

mula sa iba’t ibang lugar
sa buong bansa. Ang mga pagkain na
masayang natikman ng mga bata ay dried
mangoes, cornick, peanut brittle, otap,
tuna at pinya.

nas., puti, dilaw, asul at pula.

Visayas at Mindanao. Ang bawat isla ay
binubuo ng iba’t ibang probinsya. At sa
bawat probinsya, mayroong mga pagkain
na tiyak na kinikilala. Binigyan ng mga guro

Teacher Grace and Teacher Rona
together with other teachers
planned a weeklong activity in introducing
the different food tastes to the chil-
dren. It started with the story of Stone
Soup, they learned that during hard
times, the people get together and bring
out the best stone soup ever! With a lit-
tle bit of milk, carrot, cabbage, salt, pep-
per, water and anything you can add in,
you can make such great stone soup for
everyone, The children were part of the
story by pretending to be the soldiers
who are the casts in the book. The Stone
Soup was indeed a great way of jump
starting the week.
The series of activities introduc-
ing what food is to the children have
made them aware of where food can
come from, how food is prepared and the
different textures of food. But how can
the children skip the part of learning its
different tastes? The 4’s Class love food!
Every snack time, they really spend a
happy time eating different food with
their classmates. It is just but the right
time to introduce them to the different
food tastes.

Did you know that other than
tasting food, there is still another way to
know how food tastes! That is through
smelling. The 4’s Class also worked their
nose out in smelling different condiments
to know how they actually taste like.
Their faces showed different emotions
when they were smelling the different
condiments! They smelled, soy sauce for
salty, coffee beans for bitter, vinegar
for sour, chopped chili for spicy and va-
nilla for sweet! Now , the children see to
it that they smell food served during
snack. This helps them guess what taste
the food will have once they eat them!
Who would have thought that food smell-
ing an be as fun as food tasting!
What can be the best way to
know the different tastes of food? Taste
them of course! And that is just what the
children of the 4’s class did! They were
given different food having the different
tastes to try. The children were very
adventurous in trying the prepared food
for them. Some were hesitant at first
but when they saw how their classmates
enjoyed tasting the food, they couldn't
wait for themselves to try it too! The
food they tasted were the following: to-
mato for umami, salted egg for salty,
lemon for sour, coffee for bitter and
hopia for sweet. Food tasting is the yum-
miest way to know the different tastes
of food! Will 4’sclass will surely remem-
