The Fall Arts Academy classes will begin the week of August 17 and will conclude with a showcase performance for family and friends on Monday, November 9 at 7 PM. AUDITIONS! A Midsummer Night’s Dream August 17 Children Ages 9 – 13 from 5 to 7 PM *Children’s roles will be non-speaking. They will be the fairies in the forest. Prepare a Shakespearean monologue. Ages 14 – Adult 7 PM Those auditioning should prepare a 30-second Shakespearean monologue and will also read from script. Frosty the Snowman and Friends October 6 at 6 PM Ages 6 – Adult Frosty the Snowman, The Gift of the Magi, and singers and dancers Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script. Peter Pan Monday, Jan 4 for Ages 6 – 13 only at 4 PM Tuesday, Jan 5 for Ages 6 – 13 at 4 PM and Ages 13 to Adult at 6 PM Those under 13 should pick up a copy of “I’m Flying” at the PAC. Baby Boppers Hip Hop Dance Cost: $160 for the semester Mondays from 6 – 7 PM Ages 5 - 9 Instructor: Shaun Terry Focuses on building rhythm, breaking down shyness, experimenting with various hip hop styles and an introduction to tumbling for break dancing. Beat Breakers Hip Hop Dance Cost: $160 for the semester Mondays from 7 – 8 PM Ages 10 – 14 Instructor: Shaun Terry All hip hop styles, highlighting the student’s skills as an individual dancer. Tumbling for break dancing with more focus on technique. Show Stoppers Hip Hop Dance Cost: $160 for the semester Mondays from 8 – 9 PM Ages 14 – Adult Instructor: Shaun Terry Focus on technique and more advanced hip hop moves using current and old school hip hop. Private Voice Lessons Cost: $120 per month Date and time must be pre-arranged with Instructor. Ages 12 – Adult Instructor: Joshua Jannotta Voice lessons will teach correct vocal technique and music theory, using the Bel Canto style. Learn how to follow your vocal part line, how to read the staff, time signatures, note values, sight reading and other skills that will help you be a better performer for musicals. Intermediate Acting Cost: $160 for the semester Mondays from 5:30 – 6:30 PM Ages 12 – Adult Instructor: Joanna Berner If you have had beginning acting or some stage experience, this class will take your performance ability to the next level. Students will create believable characters, learn vocal dialect, analyze script text and create relationships onstage. Students will work on monologues and scenes from classic comedies or dramas. Color Explosion Cost: $160 for the semester Tuesdays from 6 – 7:30 PM Ages 7 – 12 Instructor: Gary Newman Students interested in art will have the chance to use different types of color and media to work on a large individual art project throughout the semester. Some of the art forms used will be color pencil, water colors, collage and more! The Perfect Audition: Getting the Part Cost: $160 for the Semester Tuesdays from 5:30 – 6:30 PM Ages 10 – Adult Instructor: Joanna Berner Auditioning can intimidate anyone. This class will teach you all the basics: what to expect at an audition, how to be successful at cold reading, survive a dance audition even if you aren’t a dancer, picking songs that will showcase your talent, audition do’s and don’ts and most impor- tantly what the director looks for and how to be realistic about what parts are right for you. Beginning Acting Cost: $160 for the semester Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:30 PM Ages 6 - 12 Instructor: Joanna Berner No experience is necessary for this fun look at the world of acting. Through the use of theatre games, scene work and monologues, students will learn how to feel comfortable on stage and all about what makes acting so much fun! Jazz Dance for Musical Theatre Cost: $160 for the semester Wednesdays from 6 – 7 PM Ages 12 – Adult (younger must have instructor permission) Instructor: Melanie Cornelison Learn basic steps and combinations that are used in musical theatre from the classic shows of the 40’s and 50’s through the new hits of today! Tips on picking up choreography quickly and common steps that all performers need to know. Acting for Shakespeare Cost $160 for the semester Thursdays from 6 – 7 PM Ages 10 – Adult Instructor: Melanie Cornelison Acting the works of William Shakespeare requires certain techniques unique to this style of perform- ing. Class will cover vocal phrasing, body lan- guage, history of the time period, costuming and more. Drawing Cost $100 for the six week session Thursdays from 6:30 – 8 PM (August 20, 27, September 3, 10, 17 and 24) Ages 12 – Adult Instructor: Nancy Adams Students will receive individualized instruction in drawing technique. There will be an opportunity to develop works for your portfolio. Private Beginning Piano Lessons Cost: $80 per month (one 30-minute class per week) Instructor: Amber Ferguson Date and Time to be arranged with the instructor All ages Sign Language and Singing Cost: $160 for the semester Tuesdays from 6:30 – 7:30 PM Ages 10 – 18 Instructor: Sonya Newman Sign language is an amazing skill to have and when you add singing it doubles the fun. Learn different styles of songs and how to sign as you sing them. Elements of performance sign lan- guage set to the music of popular Broadway shows will be taught. Choreography will accom- pany the sign language. Paramount Youth Chorus Cost: $160 for the semester Tuesdays from 6 – 7 PM 2 – 7 Grade Instructor: Amber Ferguson Budding singers will learn vocal and performance technique as they sing songs from different time periods and musical styles. The chorus will have various opportunities to perform including Festival of Trees and Trains and as part of the Paramount Players’ annual Christmas production.
