These are the wines of Susana Balbo.This is her story.

Susana Balbo, Argentina’s leading and

most innovative winemaker, has been a

pioneer in wine ever since she became

Argentina’s first female enologist in 1981.

When no one thought it possible, she

crafted the first vintage of premium,

elegant Torrontés in 1983 and has been

trailblazing her path in wine ever since.

Today, after over 30 years of challenge

and triumph, Susana’s mantra remains

the same:

“Where there’s a will, there’s a wine”.

Susana receives her degree in enology from Don Bosco University and became the first woman inArgentina to do so.1981

Susana works as a highly-regarded wine consultant internationally in Argentina.

Susana pursues her dream of building her own winery and making wines under her own name.

Susana selected by President Macri as chair of the W20 (Woman’s 20), a working group of the G20dedicated to women’s empowerment.

1982-83Susana begins her career in wine at the Sucesión Michel Torino Winery in Cafayate, Salta. Makes herfirst vintage of Torrontés, helping transform this variety from a blending grape to a world-class varietal.

2. Innovative WinemakersSusana continually seeks innovative ways to enhance her winemaking, from

experimenting with barrel volumes (160L through 6,500L) to

testing wild vs cultured yeasts. For premium wine production, Susana chooses

diverse fermenting vessels, including porous concrete eggs, roll fermenters,

pressurized barrels, and anforas, among others.

3. Leading the industrySusana Balbo has been an influential leader in Argentine wine not only with her

own projects at SBW, but also as elected President of Wine of Argentina

(Argentina’s international trade promotion organization).

With WofA, Susana has been elected by her industry peers three times due to

her work ethic, visionary leadership, and dedication to the success of Argentine

wine worldwide.

4. Family tiesIn 2011 and 2012, Susana’s son José and daughter Ana joined to help build SBW

to where it is today. José helps Susana as a key member of

the winemaking team alongside his role as Export Manager. Ana is

SBW´s Marketing Manager as well as General Manager of the winery´s

restaurants.

5. Pushing the limitsSusana continuously seeks uncharted territory in the wine world to see what limits can be tasted. Most recently, Susana has delved into making unique white wines with great personality and terroir character –wines like Susana Balbo Barrel Fermented Torrontés and Susana Balbo White Blend, both from Altamira. The Torrontés is not only the first of its kind, but harvested from a previously unproven terroir for Torrontés in the Uco Valley, and the White Blend has been recognized as one of the great and most innovative

Argentine white wines.

1. Pioneering SpiritSusana became the first female enologist

in Argentina after graduating with honors

from Don Bosco University in Mendoza in
