Our wonderful earth
Why should we care what happens to the earth?
We should care because our grandparents left us this earth to enjoy. How will we leave it for the next generation? That is an interesting question?
There is doubt that it will be left with any sustainability. We have polluted, it and with deforestation left an environment that in some places be left for a desert.
Some might face starvation. Some face losing their homes to rising seas. Some face getting more skin cancer. Many face telling their children about animals that would then be extinct. Imagine a world with out elephants and tigers and polar bears. And when your children ask what happened to all these creatures you will say they died or were hunted out because man just did not care.
The world is a beautiful place. It is full of natural resources.
The Religious Response to the Environmental Crisis
We have a Responsibility
for the environment
because we are part of it.
Few people ever imagined that the world was in a serious danger. Yet today more than ever before it is becoming more likely that we are going to destroy the world.
Deforestation leading to Desertification.
How are we destroying our planet?
Answer many ways
1.Deforestation
This removes oxygen from the air.
Small scale deforestation
The effect will be soil erosion. Loss of habitat. Climate change. Area will never have forest again. Nothing can be done to restore what will be lost. The rule should be to not cut down all of the trees.
Large scale deforestation
This has massive implications to the landscape & the environment
Cutting down trees will effect the planet. The loss of the oxygen.
Deforestation
People who are poor cut down the trees. They need to sell charcoal. Eventually there will be no more trees. Example Haiti
Here you can see the suffering. The trees being cut down help influence climate change. Trees cut down to make charcoal can cause big problems.
