There are no “shortcuts” or “silver bullets” to a successful marriage. All the love two human beings can muster cannot guarantee success. Unlimited financial resources fail to provide lasting, happy marriages. Children can’t, total submission or control fail.
As we have said before there are no guarantees in this world. Yet if
both Husbands and wives will take on the God designated Roles and Responsibilities in the marriage relationship we can be expect marital bliss.
One week from today we begin a study of Christian Marriage Skills. We ask each member to assemble at the desig-nated time. We ask each one to invite oth-ers to attend with you. We ask old & young, Married and single to as-semble with each of us. This can be the most significant class you have attended.
The Christian Marriage Skills Classes promises to improve not only married life but also our
relationship with the Lord. As God has compared the Marriage bond to that of a Christians bond in the Lord all can gain much.
Please assemble with others in the Lord and our friends and loved ones for each Lord’s day evening
and make our marriages reflect the bond we have in the Lord.

How Tedious & Tasteless August 20, 2017 c.r. van arsdall
How tedious and tasteless the hours When Jesus I no longer shall see; Sweet prospects, sweet birds and sweet flowers, Have all lost their sweetness to me; The midsummer sun shines but dim, The fields strive in vain to look gay. But when I am happy in Him, December's as pleasant as May.
His Name yields the richest perfume, And sweeter than music His voice; His presence disperses my gloom, And makes all within me rejoice. I should, were He always thus nigh, Have nothing to wish or to fear; No mortal as happy as I, My summer should last all the year.
Content with beholding His face, My all to His pleasure resigned, No changes of season or place Would make any change in my mind: While blessed with a sense of His love, A palace a toy would appear; All prisons would palaces prove, If Jesus would dwell with me there.
Dear Lord, if indeed I am Thine, If Thou art my sun and my song, Say, why do I languish and pine? And why are my winters so long? O drive these dark clouds from the sky, Thy soul cheering presence restore; Or take me to
Thee up on high, Where winter and clouds are no more. (John Newton, 1779)
The preceding lines have been lost by modern hymn singers, but can be found in the web page on the Appleton Church of Christ, Wisconsin , under Resources...download for the song.
Of course, many of us are more familiar with Amazing Grace, 1779 by John Newton. He must have been caught by the beauty of nature. What were the fields and skies like in the year of 1779? We can only read through his thoughts and guess at the beauty he saw and put on paper for us, who were to follow many years in the future.
From the Warrenton Hospice Newsletter:
A man went into a doughnut shop, saw what he liked and told the counter person that he would like to have a half dozen.
The worker said that there was not a a half dozen, but could sell him 6,9 or 12.
So the customer replied, "So you don't have a half dozen, I guess I will take 6 ."
A Psalm of David when he pretended madness before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed.>> I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad Psalms 34:1-2
