Ruggles, Pastor M. Danielle Bosdell, Vicar Karla Lake, Director of Music phone: 610-258-6119 e-mail: [email protected]website: stjohnseaston.org Sunday Worship 9:30am / Wednesday 7:00pm (Hugh Moore Park) Newsletter Submissions to: [email protected]This year the theme for VBS is ‘When Life is Wild, God is Good!’ Each night of VBS we will focus on different adjectives. For example, ‘When life is SCARY, God is Good!’ With everything we are going to do throughout the week, I hope that the participants are able to walk away with the reminder that God is always with them. It is going to be a week filled with good food, fun music, creative crafts, energetic games, and adventurous story-telling, all centered around the theme ‘When life is wild, God is Good!’ Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the details of life. We get bogged down by different things and lose sight of the fact that no matter what is going on, GOD IS GOOD! God’s goodness and love is in the midst of all of life’s trials and tribulations, joys and celebrations. What will you do this summer to be intentional about paying attention to God’s goodness in all things? Maybe starting a prayer journal in which you write each day where you saw God working in your life or through others. Beginning a weekly conversation with a loved one, either in person or over the phone about how God showed up in your week Consider sharing these stories with people you know and maybe people you don’t during the week of July 15-19 for VBS. Volunteering for VBS is an opportunity to build connection and be an example for children. With the help of some seasoned veterans of VBS, I have been organizing this event and its going to be really fun! I hope you all will consider volunteering in some way this year. Whether it is helping with dinners, registrations, games, etc. The possibilities are endless and the memories you make during this event will go with you afterwards as a reminder that God is always with you. Giant Shopping Cards: Shopping cards for Giant Food Stores in the amounts of $50, $25 and $10 will be available to purchase on Sundays after Worship. Use the money you would nor-mally allocate for groceries and purchase shopping cards with it - then do your shopping as usual with the shopping cards. There is no extra fee or charge - a donation actually comes from Giant! Giant Food Stores will donate 5% of the face value of each card sold to St. John's. The Outreach Committee will distribute the donations to local charities. This is such an easy way to donate! The shopping cards have no expiration date and no charge for non-use, and can be used for groceries, gas and pharmacy. And you can even give them to someone else as a Gift Card.

Heritage Day in Easton, Pennsylvania, is a free, full-day family festival that showcases local history, offers activities for kids, and concludes with an amazing fireworks display over the Forks of the Delaware.
Heritage Day celebrates Easton’s historic significance in the founding of the United States. At noon on July 8, 1776, Easton was one of three
places where the Declaration of Independence had its first public reading. It was read on the steps of the old courthouse in Easton’s historic Centre Square by the Chair of the Committee of Safety, Robert Levers. A reenactment of that event, and a festival organized around it, first occurred during the Bicentennial Celebration in 1976. From that year on Heritage Day has been celebrated as Easton’s own Independence Day celebration. (heritageday.org). The historic churches are open for tours and an ecumenical worship is held at Riverside Park.
Heritage Day 2019 will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019.

Psalm 1—Blessed are those who walk hand in hand with goodness, who stand beside virtue, who sit in the seat of
truth; For their delight is in the Spirit of Love, and in love’s heart they dwell day and night. Like trees planted by
streams of water, that yield fruit in due season, and their leaves flourish; and in all that they do, they give life.
