If You Are Hospitalized at Maine Medical Center Your pastors continue to feel that visiting church members/friends at hospitals and other health care facilities is a very im-portant ministry and priority of the church. Church members/friends most often expect and wish to be visited by their pastor. On September 1, Maine Medical Center let us know they would no longer permit pastors of churches to learn if members of their church are hospitalized. This is a major shift of policy for church-es, members of churches and their pastors. The bottom line is that if you are hospitalized at Maine Medical Center and you, your son, your daughter, an extended family member, a friend, or someone doesn’t let the church know you are in the hospital, your pastor will have no way of knowing you are there and, as a result, will not be able to visit you. This is an enormous change in a policy which has been in place for decades. It is important that you know this has taken place.

DISCOVERY CENTER PRESCHOOL The students at The Discovery Center Preschool are learning how to give back to our community. Two weeks ago we went to visit the Food Pantry here at the church. We learned how many people rely on such a very small amount of food. We also learned that some of those people are children the same age as we are! Each

child went home with a large paper grocery bag which they graciously filled with soups, tuna fish, crack-ers, cereal, oatmeal and more. As a group we all went together and delivered our donations to the Food Pantry knowing someone would have plenty of food to eat thanks to our hard work. PLEASE JOIN US on Monday, November 9 at Willow's Pizza for our annual Discovery Center pizza night! A percentage of sales this evening (both eat in & takeout ) will be donated to our wonderful preschool. Hope to see you

YOUR CHURCH KNOWS HOW TO GET YOU THERE

If you are over 65 years old, and have wondered how to get from where you are to where you want to be, we can help! Our church works together with the Independent Transportation Network (ITN), which provides rides anywhere within the Greater Portland area. The good news is that a ride to a worship service at our church, or any church-related activity, is totally free to you. There is a cost for other rides to locations which are not related to the church. Winter is coming. If you are feeling that driving your own car may become more difficult or im-possible with ice and snow, ITN may be an oppor-tunity for you. Simply contact the church office (799-3361) and we can help make this transportation service a reality. We want to help you get to where you want to be.

HOLLY DAZE BAZAAR Saturday, November 21, 9:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m.

The members of your Bazaar team need your donations. Always appreciated are: knitted items and small pies and loaves. You might wish to donate books, jewelry or other gift items.

Please call any of the people listed below and offer a few minutes or a few hours of your time. This year we are having our third annual Cookie Walk! This is how it works: First you buy a box that holds a pound of cookies; then, you walk around Wright Pavilion filling your box with your favorite cookies. If you plan to bake for the Cookie Walk, please limit your baking to Holiday Cookies, only. (Please—no chocolate chip cookies or brownies; however the Food Court would love to have them.) Please drop your cookies for the Cookie Walk off at the Church on Friday, November 20.

We need more volunteers! Please call any of the people listed below to offer a few minutes or hours of your time. Working together, we can once again make the Bazaar an outstanding success.

Reminder: Donations to the Bazaar may be left in Guptill Hall through Wednesday, November 18. Cookies and food should be dropped off on Friday, November 20, before 2:00 p.m. (or very early Saturday morning.

Luncheon hours: 11:00 a.m.—1:00 p.m. The marvelous menu includes yummy haddock chowder, fresh crabmeat and lobster rolls, chicken salad rolls and apple crisp. So, come and sit with your church friends and neighbors and savor the meal and the moments. Take-out will be available.

The Bazaar is chaired by Janice Files, 799-3457, Karen Souza, 772-5238, and Lynne Lanctot, 799-1785. We are grateful for their hard work and dedication.
