What an amazing start to the school year! As I walked around on Tuesday I was thrilled to see the children so seled and calm. A big thank you to the teachers for seng up their classrooms so the children had a vibrant space to begin their learning in for 2017. I was so pleased to see teachers in and out of school over the summer holidays to prepare their rooms. Their dedicaon and passion is to be commended. Bikes and Scooters The garden shed is now being used for storage so if children bring bikes/ scooters to school they must be locked up in the bike rack. Just a reminder that bike riders must enter and leave the school grounds via the teachers’ car park. Scooters may be folded and carried through the school grounds. Please remind your child to wear a helmet at all mes and walk their bike once they arrive to school. I know at mes this seems ‘over the top’ but we must keep all members of our school community safe. New Staff A big Dorset welcome to our new staff. Peter Buultjens (Grade 1), Jake Marn (Grade 2), Tracey Wheatley (Grade 5/6) and Sue Page (Music). It is awesome to have new staff members at our school to inject some new ideas. They were all excited and quite nervous on day one but seem to be fing in quite well. I know our Dorset Community will make them feel quite welcome. A Fresh Look Over the summer break Chris Allen painted the middle building classrooms. All the lime and watermelon is gone! (Thank goodness!!) The rooms look fresh, clean and bright. It is amazing what a coat of paint can do. It is a never ending job, the upkeep and maintenance of the buildings, but well worth it when the end result is fantasc. I am now geng a quote for new blinds in that building which should also improve our children's learning space. LSL Andrew Bell will be on LSL for 2 weeks and Ian Craighead will be replacing him during this me. If you have any queries re: 5/6 sport please see Ian or Bre Speed (5/6 level leader). Level Leaders for 2017 So as parents are aware of the posions of responsibility the following staff are the level leaders for 2017. Foundaon - Lenis Quigg Grade 1 - Catherine Holt Grade 2 - Jusn Mackay Grade 3/4 - Shannon Young Grade 5/6 - Bre Speed Please see one of the above leaders if you have any concerns/issues. Foundation 2017 Tuesday and Thursday were the first days of school for our Foundaon students. How cute! There were some tears (mainly parents!) and the children quickly seled to a full day’s work. Thankyou to the Foundaon team for making their first day excing and rewarding. Preparing them well for school life. The year has started well and looks set to be another rewarding year.
