I just realized that this will be my last newsletter submission as your entertainment chair….and it’s hard to type and dance at the same time!! While the past two years have been my pleasure, I’m welcoming the much-needed break in the action. This does not mean that I’m going away; I’m looking forward to working with the newly elected entertainment chair and will continue my service to this club through events like St. Baldricks and The Zero-K Run. We give thanks for many things this time of year and we mustn’t forget Jay Zahn and Dan Hietpas for hosting the November Tenderloin smoker.

House

Jack Koehn will host the December 21st smoker with his highly anticipated “Wild Game” feast. You know the drill…sign yourself up on the bulletin board. Please make sure to thank the amazing team, headed by Roger Gilsoul that continually puts together one of the most incredible Veterans Day Ceremonies. It was held this year on November 5th at the GBYC and the members of this committee and club really pulled it together to make it special! Hundreds of people gathered to honor, thank and remember. The 2016 Commodores Ball was a smashing success…we really do clean up good! Thank you Gary, Renee, Jim and Jackie for a great evening; we appreciate you as much as you appreciate all of us. Coming Up: Sunday December 4th, Children’s Christmas Charity event during the Packer game. Bring a toy or donation to be distributed before the holiday to the less fortunate. Saturday, December 10th, The Annual Children’s Christmas Party gathering starts at 11am and runs until 1:30pm. Please sign up by December 3rd. Admission is one non-perishable food item to be donated to a special family. Speaking of special, Mary Unrath has run this party for the past 25 years. This will be her last year and Mary…..we thank you eternally for the many, many years of service. Saturday, December 17th, The Annual Lipinski White Elephant Extravaganza starts at 6:00pm and the re-gifting to start at 8:00pm at the GBYC. If you are interested in participating, please bring a “special” wrapped gift (1 per person) that needs a new home and an appetizer to share. We also strongly encourage your most “festive” holiday attire! Don’t forget the Christmas eve social! I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! See you at the club! Heil out!!!

I would like to thank all of the board members and all the people that have helped the Green Bay Yachting Club continue to be such a great place for many friends and families. I have enjoyed doing the best that I can creating the food and drink for all of us to enjoy. We are very lucky to have such a great establishment to do so. Our great bartending staff led by Andrea and our "Cookie" Todd have been nothing but a pleasure to work with over the years. I have confidence that whom ever it would be to continue my position will do so with pride as I did. The GBYC is always looking for help in the kitchen. Please feel free to help serve food or help by doing some dishes, even your own. Todd is proudly serving his Tuesday burgers. Thursday his Mexican night is going strong. He is always willing to make it your way. Friday fish is always a great night out. The perch, bluegill, baked haddock, battered cod, shrimp and others are always waiting to be prepared for you. Thank you all for everything.

Grassy Island Range Lights, Inc.

Your lighthouses are wishing you a Merry Christmas. Two Stars. The majority of the maintenance activity is completed for the winter months. Now we get together each Saturday and talk about what’s next. This is the Christmas issue of your Dockline. That means you have some shopping to do. How about something lighthousey? Like a sweatshirt, or a T-shirt, or a pen and ink drawing. Or a mug. Go to the GBYC website or copy this to your browser: http://greenbayyachtclub.com/newsandinfo/grassy-island-range-lights-merchandise/ . Or stop by the lighthouses on a Saturday around noon. Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving and have a Merry Christmas. Ho Ho Ho.

Grounds

Robb Collins

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. We had a house full and loved every minute of it. I also ate just a little too much like a lot of us may have. So we all may have then spent a little to much time on the couch. FYI The two small dumpsters, one on the north side and the on the south side are seasonal. The emptying of them has been stop. They will resume in the spring. So please do not use them. If you have garbage please dispose of it in the big dumpster behind the club. I repeat DO NOT use the small dumpsters on the north and south side until further notice, please! Now with the north winds blowing in all that cold arctic air, the front or west entrance to the club has been closed as the entrance. It now is just an emergency exit. This is to keep us all warm and toasty. So the east or back entrance is now the main entrance until further notice. Thank you very much and have a Merry Christmas.

Celebrate FESTIVUS for the rest of us

at the club. Friday December 23rd

Hello Fellow GBYC'ers Well,... I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and had a chance to stop at the club and attend one of the many events happening at GBYC. It looks as though everyone that is winter storing their boat at GBYC was able to get their boat winterized and shrink wrapped, as we had some great fall weather. Soon enough mother nature will be throwing the white stuff at us and the temperatures will be dropping.

Fleet Captain

Steve Heney

Reminder: Please, if you have not yet paid for your Winter Storage at GBYC or have any other delinquent account at the Green Bay Yacht Club that you do so in a timely manner. Late fees may apply in some cases, thank you. Additional Reminder: There have been some concerns brought to my attention recently about guests at GBYC. When bringing a guest to the Green Bay Yacht Club the GBYC member must be present....additionally the guest must leave the GBYC property when the Green Bay Yacht Club member leaves, thank you. There is now a GBYC Dock Committee formed and anyone who may be interested in attending the upcoming meeting or joining the committee can contact me via phone call/text or email. We will be discussing plans for 2017 Dock / Slip upgrades and how we can accomplish this in an efficient and cost effective manner. We also will be discussing possibly making some modifications to the Harbor. In closing, I would like say "Thank you" to all who assisted me in making this a safe and successful 2016 Boating Season at the Green Bay Yacht Club. I would also like to wish each and every member at GBYC a happy and safe Holiday Season! Take care and see you at the club....I'm out!

Jim Manlick Hi fellow GBYC members, I’m Jim Manlick and I’m running for Commodore this year. As

you probably know I’ve spent the last three years as the club’s secretary. This year I’ve

been nominated to run for the Commodore position and have accepted. Since it appears

that I’m running unopposed my chances look pretty good. That being said I do ask for your

support, help and suggestions during my term. I want to thank Gary for his leadership the

last couple of years and appreciate the fact that as past Commodore he’ll still be around to

help. I hope to see a big crowd for the December annual meeting and look forward to

working with the board you elect. Thanks, Jim

Hello fellow yacht club members , I am running for the board because I am here all the time and feel that I have the time now to help the club come to its full potential as it once was a few years ago. With a large member and social membership I am hoping you will look to me and the vision I have to get this great place back to the fun and wonderful place it can be. Thanks for your vote Andrea Olson-Slye

Hi, my name is Dawn Demeny. John and I have been members since 2009. We very much enjoy the club. John had been on the board previously and I guess now it's my turn if elected. I look forward to serving you and the club.

Hello fellow members of the GBYC, For those of you who don’t know who I am, my name is Mary Jackson. My Husband Mark and I have been full members for the last 6 years. I have decided to run for the board because of the love I have for the club and everyone here. Mark and I really enjoy our time here and the friends we have made, I feel it is time for me to give a little back.

It has been my honor to serve as your Treasurer for the last few years and if you would like, I would be happy to continue. The club is in a good financial po-sition thanks to our past and present Fleet Captains keeping the harbor full, the House and Entertainment Chairs for keeping the bar/restaurant profitable, the Board of Directors for dedicated service and to many others that tirelessly vol-unteer to keep the GBYC running. And, also, thanks to our members that fi-nancially support the club day by day. As a member of the Board of Directors, I would work to continue to improve both the GBYC financial well-being and the amenities we offer. Thank you for your consideration. MarLynn Ohlfs

2017 Board of Directors Nominations

Hi, Jay Zahn here. Currently I am a Co-owner of Smokey’s on the Bay and Tyrant Tackle. My wife Jean and I became members of the Yacht Club in 2007. In 2008 I was hired by the board as the Yacht Club’s Bar Manager. I served in that capacity until June of 2014. We became full members of the Yacht Club in 2015. I have chaired numerous Smokers and Summer Socials. There isn’t much that goes on at the club which I am not aware of and I believe I could be an asset. I ask for your vote and would be honored to serve on the GBYC board. Thanks, Jay Zahn
