The Differences Between Renewable and

Nonrenewable Resources Renewable energy is energy that is replaced at a greater or equal rate than it is used. Examples are: wind, solar, and geothermal. Nonrenewable energy is energy that cannot be renewed as quickly as it can be used. Examples are: crude oil, natural gas, and coal.

Renewable Energy Resources

Current available renewable energy resources are :

solar energy (energy that comes from the sun and is only available when the sun is shining),

biomass fuels (wood, plant parts, manure, and food wastes that can be used as fuels),

wind energy (comes from the wind that moves and the harder the wind blows the more wind energy you can get and use),

geothermal energy (heat from the earth’s interior).

Advantages of renewable energy: 1. The sun always rises.2. The wind always blows.3. The sun and wind do not pollute.

Home Energy Improvement

>In summer: I could turn the air-condition thermostat up to 79° instead of 75° and still be comfortable.

>In winter: I could turn the heat thermostat down to 76° instead of 80° and wear a sweater.

>During our home renovation we changed to energy efficient appliances.

Alternative Energy Solutions(for the transportation industry)

I recommend that you use either solar power (a device on vehicles that the sun is attracted to and then converts sunlight into electrical power) or gasohol (a mixture of alcohol added to gasoline). But with new technology there are new ways we can use renewable energy to get around and reduce air pollution.

Chosen Renewable Energy

I chose the solar power energy because it is the most plentiful and the most interesting. It is also the most researched renewable energy source. Solar energy has been used in the past and is surely in our future!
