Clip 3 - Hospital

- Light is focused on Sarah and the rest around her is darkness, maybe to show she’s in darkness in her dream.

- Lights turning off behind her as she sprints up the corridor. Suggesting that the darkness is coming to get her or something is chasing her.

- The green lighting makes the hospital look very un-inviting and grimy, not making it seem like a nice place at all.

- After she out runs the darkness she breaks through to a normal, well lit, hospital. Maybe this is because she’s came out of a bad dream or an illusion. She comes back to reality and the green, the shadows and the darkness has all gone.

Lighting

The colors look very warm and more inviting than the green corridor in the next scene. Little girl is surrounded in darkness but the light is focused on Jessica and the cake, maybe to show it’s in a dream and isn't reality.

Clip 3 - HospitalLocation

Both settings are the same but they look very different, mainly due to the lighting. The 1st image is very dimly lit compared to the 2nd image which is very bright. The first image looks very un-inviting and grimy as it is lit with harsh green color. The 2nd image has very white and bright colors, this could be because she has come from a dark, scary dream into reality. This change has occurred to show that she has come back into reality and has come out of the dark, grimy dream that she was in.

Clip 3 – HospitalCostume and Props

- The costume that Sarah is wearing in this scene is used to show she’s a hospital patient. This lets the audience know that she has survived the car crash that happened in the previous scene.

-The prop is used to show that she was on a heart monitor, also showing that she is a patient in hospital.

-The birthday cake is significant because just before the car crash they are planning Jessica’s birthday. It sums up what she’s lost, to a mother, their childs birthday is the best day of their lives and she’s lost that.

Clip 3 – HospitalSound

The heart monitor cuts out and makes a long high pitched noise which shows that no heart beat is being detected, but we know this because we saw her pull the wires off herself. The camera then focuses on the heart monitor making the sound louder, and it makes us question what is going on.

Tense music comes in as she runs down the corridor to build tension as the darkness gets closer. Breathing emphasized as you can hear her panting really loud so it builds up tension in the scene.
