FROM MADAME PRESIDENT...
Happy New Year to all my sisters of Psi Chapter! Gee, it seems as if I just finished writing my December message, and here it is almost time for our February 16 meeting already. I hope everyone has stayed safe and healthy with the snow, ice, and chilly weather we’ve had!
First of all, it is with great pleasure that I announce to you that Betty Marshall, our Eta State president, will be coming to our May 25 meeting! This is quite an honor! Please make plans now to attend!! We want a super turnout to welcome her and to show her how wonderful our chapter is!! We will be installing our new officers at that meeting and enjoying a lovely dinner afterwards. The meeting will start at 6:00. Location TBA.
Let me take a moment to remind you of a couple things. First, before our February meeting, please take time to consider who would make a good new member of our chapter; then, complete a new member nomination form and get it to Sarah Staley at New London Choice Middle School, or bring it to our February meeting. If you don’t have a form handy, go to the Eta State website (http://www.deltakappagamma.org/NC/) and click on Recommendation Form in the left menu column. Then you can print out as many copies as you like. At our February meeting, Sarah will announce those folks who have been nominated, and we will vote on them at our April meeting. We need/want new members!!
Second, please take time to consider our upcoming Eta State Convention, April 23-25, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Resort in Asheville, NC.
Information and registration forms are available on the Eta State website (see above link). I’d love to see a bunch of us go!! And there’s always the International Convention, July 20-24, in Spokane, Washington!
For your information, our state organization has created the Eta State Chapter Excellence Award based on leadership, representation, communications, quality programs, community project, scholarships, contributions to international and state activities, support of state activities, and chapter attendance from March 1, 2009-March 1, 2010. Points are awarded in each of these categories, and qualifying chapters may receive either a Gold Award, a Silver Award, a Bronze Award, or an Honorable Mention. Right now, it looks as if we’ll qualify for a Bronze Award, but I’m still looking for areas where we can earn points. <grin>
Remember that we’ll be making birdfeeders at our February meeting at North Stanly. If you haven’t already done so, please RSVP to Terry Burleson so that we can prepare something great for you!
I’d like to extend a big thank-you to those committee chairmen who had to complete biennial reports to! I appreciate so much your taking the time to do that!
I guess that’s about it for now. I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine’s Day with lots of chocolate and kisses. See you on the 16th!
Marlene
